Oh anon, that's intense... that's also what holds me back, like it's all about hormones. I really want to get pregnant, but I'm not sure if those hormones would do me any good. I had a colleague who had the same thing, and it was pretty intense. -

Yeah, I get that it’s different for everyone. But the side effects are pretty intense and strong.
And that makes me think about it. -

I totally get it! It's good that you're choosing what's best for yourself. Is there no option without hormones for you guys? -

So you didn't know before starting treatment that you'd be getting hormones?
Good to know that's how they work (we've also been at it for almost 2 years). And it's not my fault. So I'd expect hormones wouldn't be necessary. But if the doctor suggests it next week, I'll definitely ask about it!
A break is definitely needed... it's intense to go through the process, and sometimes you need a timeout. -

I'll definitely bring it up next week. Because if it's up to the man, I don't think a woman should have to take extra hormones.
Those hormones are quite intense. And you've stuck with it 3 times. Time to take a break now. And hopefully, you'll get some rest again too. -

Yes, sure, you're doing it for a good cause, but it also has to be manageable for yourself. And hearing you talk about it, you've really had a tough time these last few months. Well done!
I hope we can do it without hormones if needed. We really want a baby—you do it for that—but those hormones really scare me.
I'm also curious what they say to you at your hospital. Let's keep each other posted! -

We got the results of my husband's sperm analysis last week, and it was still not good. Based on the results, the advice is to start with ICSI. Pretty heavy to hear, and I'm quite sad about it. But on some level, it's also nice to have clarity. We're letting it all sink in for now, but I think if we really want a baby, there's not much other choice. We're taking some time to think about it and will have a chat with a social worker in a few weeks.
By the way, have you guys (men) ever tried special vitamins or anything like that? You'd think there must be something that can improve it. I've noticed there's really not much scientific evidence yet on improving sperm quality.
How are things going for you? Anoniempje, have you heard back whether you can/are allowed to do IUI without hormones? -

Lizzy, we also kept getting bad news. So I started doing some research and asked for help to test what my body was lacking. We've now supplemented those things. Since Friday, I've been really curious if we'll be pregnant soon. We really want it to happen without hormones. My body reacts quite strongly to those kinds of things.
Wishing you lots of strength. -

J27, I hope it works out for you too! Did you just get tested at the GP? What supplements are you taking now?
I still have hope, but after 1.5 years you really start wondering if it’s going to happen. And the doctor rightly pointed out that you should think carefully about it but also not wait for years, because now we still have good chances due to my age (33). -

Lizzy, no, from someone who does alternative medicine. I know her personally and once had circulation problems that doctors couldn't figure out. She fixed it with supplements, and I haven't had issues since. I've also asked her now, and it's quite a lot of what we're taking. And it's different for everyone. I hope it helps. Wishing you lots of strength. -

We'll get the results from the second test next week. Also, the egg will rupture in the next few days. Pff.. we keep telling each other that..
Anyway, we'll make the best of it. How are you all doing? -

We got our results today. Unfortunately, they were even worse than last time, which means we’ve ended up going straight into the IUI cycle. This is because my ovulation is also on day 1 this month. We’re going back on Monday for an ultrasound, and then we’ll probably do the IUI that same week. We’ve kept this quiet from our closest family and friends—they want to share in the journey, which is sweet. But I really want to keep the IUI process private until we actually go through with it next month. I’m afraid I’d be more disappointed if it doesn’t work the first time. Not to mention the chances are slim. Luckily, the IUI is without hormones since everything is fine with me.
It feels double and weird. I was still hoping it would happen naturally, but according to the doctor, the chances are nil. So I’ve decided to go ahead with this month’s cycle. There’s plenty of tension, and doing nothing isn’t an option right now. -

Wow Bloempje that was fast! And everything is so exciting. I hope you get some good news soon. And I understand that you're keeping the IUI on hold. It's already stressful enough!
Here the ovulation has been localized. We've been busy... we'll see. Don't expect too much, I'm more focused on the examination next week. -

Tos07, try to let go of the rash. I totally get it, I lived like that last week too. But you're making it so hard for yourself.
It's indeed super fast... I'm open to it and my husband is too. We'd already talked about it beforehand, since ovulation falls on one of those days and IUI had been discussed last time. So we'd talked together about what if it works out right away. We've been at this for almost 2 years now, and if you wait another month, you're a month further along. While I also don't really expect to get pregnant on the first try. At least that's what I'm keeping in the back of my mind for now. I don't know how grounded I'll still feel about that once the waiting weeks are over. But for us, the most natural way right now is basically zero chance, and then we're one step further. It's still exciting though.
Good luck tos07, hopefully good news for you guys. -

Once you've talked about it, the choice is made quickly. Otherwise, another month is lost!
A colleague of mine is further along in the process.. she told me this morning that she's pregnant! So incredibly happy for her, and it gives me hope again.
Wishing you lots of success this week, Bloempje. It's all quite exciting. At least, it's the next step! I hope we'll follow soon. -

It was the same for us, we heard that 2% was still considered good. We did insemination, but it failed three times. In the end, I just got pregnant naturally. Don't let it get to you. -

Rash again. Quality’s still not good, so we’ve got the referral now. I’ll call tomorrow to book an appointment. Hope we can get in quickly. Luckily, this setback is less severe than last time. -

Exciting, Bloempje!
We got a letter. Within 6 weeks we'll get news with an appointment... pfff.
It all seems like it's taking forever. We're also in the wait week here, but for us too it would be a miracle if it works out. Hihi. Still, I'm holding onto a little hope.
I'm thinking of you, Bloempje! And a miracle would of course be amazing, and I wish it so much for you! -

Exciting, tos07. Once you've got the appointment scheduled, you're in and it all goes quickly... unless you want it to take even less time.
I wish you the best too! I'm rooting for you that this round hits the mark.
How is everyone else doing? -

It's all so exciting! Tos07, I hope you're able to move forward soon, and Bloempje, I'm rooting for a positive result on the first try!
I had an appointment with social services yesterday to get everything organized. We qualify for ICSI, but I'm still finding it hard to make the decision. I'm really dreading the treatment, especially the puncture, but also the injections. But delaying probably doesn't make much sense either.
