This privacy policy explains what personal data Mummable collects, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with and what your rights are.
Who we are
Mummable is published by Peace of Mind Media, which is responsible for processing your personal data on this site.

What data we collect
When you visit the site
- Server logs. Our server records each request: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and the browser you use. We need this to deliver pages and to find and fix errors and abuse.
- Cloudflare. Pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address to send you the page quickly and to block attacks.
- Google Analytics. We count visits in a privacy-friendly way. See Analytics below.
When you create an account
You sign in with your Google account. Google then gives us your name and email address. We store your name, your email address and a random security key that keeps you signed in. Your name is shown with your posts; your email address is never shown.
When you post on the forum
We store what you write, the time you posted it and your IP address. Posts are public: anyone can read them, and search engines can show them. Please don't share anything you want to keep private (see Children's data).
When you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to answer you.
There is no contact form, no newsletter and no advertising profile on Mummable.
Content from Brabbels
Many forum conversations were first posted on our Dutch sister site Brabbels and translated into English. They show the name the author used on Brabbels and, where they have one, their Brabbels profile photo, which is loaded from Brabbels' own image server.
Videos and images in posts
Some posts contain YouTube videos, embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), or images hosted on other websites. When these load or you play a video, your browser connects to that website, which sees your IP address.
Why we use your data, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering the site and keeping it secure | Server logs, Cloudflare | Legitimate interest: running a safe, working website |
| Your account and your posts | Name, email address, posts | Contract: providing the forum you signed up for |
| Preventing and tracing abuse on the forum | IP address stored with a post | Legitimate interest: keeping the forum safe |
| Understanding which pages are used | Google Analytics (privacy-friendly) | Legitimate interest: improving the site |
| Answering your email | Email address, message | Legitimate interest: helping you |
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, set up in a privacy-friendly way:
- we have a data processing agreement with Google;
- we don't share data with Google for its own purposes;
- Google signals is off;
- advertising features are off;
- no exact location or device data is collected;
- IP addresses are not stored;
- data is kept for 2 months.
Because of these settings, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) does not require your consent for these analytics, so you won't see a cookie banner. Which cookies this places is on our cookie page.
Who we share your data with
We never sell your data. We only use service providers that process data on our behalf:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| TransIP | Hosting the website and database | Netherlands |
| Cloudflare | Delivering pages quickly and securely | Worldwide network |
| Analytics (as above) | EU and US |
When you sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy, as it does for your Google account.
Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing adequate protection.
We only give data to others, such as the police, when the law requires us to.
How long we keep your data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Server logs | 14 days |
| Google Analytics data | 2 months |
| Your account (name, email address) | Until you ask us to delete it |
| Your posts | As long as the forum exists, unless you ask us to remove them |
| Emails to us | As long as needed to deal with your question |
When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your name, email address and the IP addresses stored with your posts. Your posts stay on the forum without your name (shown as "Member"), so conversations still make sense to others. If you want your posts removed too, tell us and we'll delete them.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected;
- have it deleted;
- object to how we use it;
- have its use restricted;
- receive it in a format you can take elsewhere.
Email [email protected] from the address you use on Mummable, so we can check it's you. We answer within one month.
If you're not happy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children's data
Mummable is for parents and parents-to-be, not for children. We don't knowingly let children under 16 create an account; if one has, email us and we'll delete it.
Parents often write about their children. Please don't post information that identifies a child, such as their full name, school, address or photos that show their face. If you see this on Mummable, or you want something about your child removed, email us and we'll take it down.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date below.
