I also bought the vitamins for the man today. Hopefully, it will lead to a better result in the next test.
Exciting, Lisa! Hopefully, it helps you receive a little miracle soon. Did you need to have your blood drawn, or did you do that recently?
  2. Lisa #22

No, this is our first appointment with the OB/GYN. I spoke with my GP on the phone, and he said I could make an appointment together with my partner. He immediately forwarded the referral to the OB/GYN department at the hospital. We could’ve actually gone earlier, but then we were on vacation.
  3. Bloempje #23

Okay, it's our first appointment on Friday too. But I had to get my blood drawn beforehand so they could check it right after. And we had to fill out a questionnaire.
  4. Lisa #24

Yes, we're getting that questionnaire too. It'll probably be the first thing they do for me, blood tests. I'm curious how your appointment goes on Friday and what the 'process' will be.

I'm also a bit scared that maybe something's not right with me too. Do you feel that way too? But on the other hand, I'd rather know now so something can be done about it. I read that you've already had some tests, were they all okay? I'll be thinking of you on Friday!

I had a miscarriage last year and for a few months after that, I still had a lot of pain in my belly/stomach. Because of that, I had to get my blood drawn and have an ultrasound back then. Everything was fine then. And now I have to get my blood drawn again.

According to my GP, it's impossible that I was pregnant back then. Now that we have the results of my husband's DNA test. That was truly a miracle back then, and because of that, it also resulted in a miscarriage. I'm really curious what they'll say on Friday.

I'm indeed also afraid that something might be wrong with me too. But I'd rather deal with it now, so we're going for it and hopefully, something can be done about it. It's just stressful, and everyone hopes to get pregnant naturally, and taking that step to the GP is already quite difficult. We all have to go through that.

    Hi Tos,
Suddenly sadness and anger here too. My partner has been tested 3 times, and his sperm is significantly reduced in all 3 areas, affecting fertility.
He doesn’t want to see a gynecologist anymore, won’t change his lifestyle, and blames it on me.
I’m now wondering if I even want to continue. I’m already over 40 and feel genuine grief. How are you doing now?
  7. J27 #27

Ella, it's hard for us but also for him. It took two weeks before my husband could talk about it and start to accept it positively. He literally said, "I don't feel like a man anymore. What will others think of me?"

Give it some time. Be kind to him and face it together. Meanwhile, with his permission, I went for a blood test and an internal ultrasound. Fortunately, everything was fine with me. That gave him time, and in the meantime, we became wiser.

    Wishing you lots of strength.

It's been a year and a half now and he can't talk about it. He blamed me, said I had an ultrasound done and everything was fine. He just broke up with me. He wants sex and says it's my fault and that I'm worthless. He smokes, uses weed, drinks, and constantly threatens me with another woman. Not being able to talk about it and pointing fingers at me makes it so hard for me. Thank you for your kind response.
  9. J27 #29

Whooo Ella, that's intense!! Wishing you lots of strength.
  10. Ella Guest #30

Thank you. Wishing you all lots of strength and success.

It might sound harsh and blunt, but maybe this is better for you.
I think you deserve a better father for your kids. If this is already the reaction he’s showing.

Sorry, but I really think you’re better off, no matter how rotten the coming period will be.
  12. Ella Guest #32

Thank you all, it does me good. And it's hard but it's reality. Better now than later with a child...

Tos07, what a relief to hear that you had a lovely vacation.
By chance, I also have my NOD this coming weekend, I don't feel anything yet either. But I don't expect much from it.
We've been to the hospital in the meantime, the quality of my husband's sperm has decreased and now he has to submit a new test next week which will be even more specific. And then we can come back that week, so we'll have to wait and see how the test turns out.
    Enjoy your vacation and Scheveningen!

What a pity, another less-than-great result. I'm curious how the follow-up process will go!
Here, very minimal, very dark discharge. (Sorry for the unappetizing description. ????).
I think I'll just wait a bit longer. I'm not really sure what to do with it.

And now it's finally broken through... unfortunately, it didn't work out even in the Spanish sun. Since I stopped taking the pill, the monthly cycle has become a real hell. So I'm crawling into bed for a day.. just feeling down.. tomorrow I'll be back...
  16. Bloempje #36

So sad, another disappointment. That’s just how it goes every month, right!
It hasn’t happened for me yet, but I’ve got really bad stomach cramps, so I expect it soon. I totally get it, it’s been a struggle for me too since I stopped the pill. Strength and hopefully you’ll get through it soon. I’m rooting for you for the next round.

That’s really tough for you guys that it hasn’t worked out yet to get pregnant. I hope it works out quickly for you!

Here’s a similar story: also a man with weaker swimmers (low concentration). We’ve been at it for almost 1.5 years now, and in May we were told that everything is a bit less than ideal. So far, we’ve had 3 tests done by different specialists, with 2 showing moderate results and 1 very poor. This week we’re getting the results of a new test after 3 months of taking more vitamins, reducing stress, avoiding hot baths, and ditching tight boxers. I’m really curious and also quite nervous about it. I still don’t know what I’d want to do next; I’d prefer to get pregnant naturally, but what are the chances of that? I’m a bit apprehensive about ICSI.

Good luck to everyone, and I’d love to hear how things go for you.

I totally get it, I'm not exactly looking forward to this process either and I'd rather get pregnant naturally. But judging by how things look now, the chances are slim. We've been trying for almost two years, so how long do you want to wait before starting the treatment? I keep wondering if I really want to do this. But doing nothing isn't an option either. And yeah, some days it feels easier than others. Everyone goes through this.

We're getting the results of another sperm analysis next week, and then we'll find out which treatment is best. It's exciting but also good, I think, because doing nothing isn't an option and it's not going to get better for our marriage.
  19. Lizzy #39

Anonymous: I indeed mean that I don't know whether I want to try for another half year or go straight to IUI/IVF. Maybe I'm just fooling myself by putting it off because I'm dreading it, rather than genuinely expecting to get pregnant naturally. Like Bloempje says, doing nothing isn't really an option either.
It'll probably depend on the sperm analysis results. Last time it was just below the IUI threshold and IVF was advised if it stayed that bad. Who knows, maybe it's just above the IUI threshold now. I'm leaning more towards that because at least you don't have to deal with hormones.
Exciting, Bloempje! We're getting the results this week.
  20. Bloempje #40

Exciting, Lizzy! I totally get why you're leaning more towards IUI than ICSI. I'm also really dreading having to deal with hormones—I feel the same way. When do you get the results?
