When do you get yourself and your partner checked for fertility?
Is there a waiting period?
Can this be done by your GP?

I had an irregular menstrual cycle. I went to the GP about it, and after 7 months, they referred me to a fertility clinic. They did tests for both me and my partner. This can't be done at the GP's office. We had a short waiting list, but it wasn't longer than a month for us.

There's no specific age limit for that. If you're under 35, you have to try on your own for more than a year. And at 35 and older, it's half a year after 45, it's just more compensated. I don't know if they'll stop helping you altogether then.

With irregularity, you don't have to wait. Leeuwetje is right, after seven months that was enough reason for her. If it just doesn't work out, then the GP will indeed refer you. That can also take longer. I think it's good that you're checking now, Stefany. Sometimes a conversation with the GP is already enough for the next step.
