When getting pregnant takes a little longer

Hi ladies,
My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant since September 2016. It’s been 1 year and 4 months now, and unfortunately, no positive result yet. We’ve never even held a positive pregnancy test.
We’ve now registered with a gynecologist.
I’d love to connect with girls who are in the same boat as us. So if you feel like chatting about it here... please do!

Hey girl... I know the feeling... you can always join the mmm group... there are several women in the medical track or transitioning to the medical track.

    Hi Louisag,
Unfortunately, we're in the same boat here. Stopped the pill in September 2014, referred to the gynecologist in October 2016. Meanwhile, 8 IUIs later, still empty-handed. It's really hard to stay positive. Hope it works out faster for you!

    Love,

    Hi Wereva,
That means you've already gone through quite a journey. And it's so impressive that you're still holding on to hope. Of course, this is also the only thing you can do, but it won't be easy at all.
    Sending you a big hug.

We started in August 2017. How miserable you must feel

Same here.. we've been trying since September 2015.. unfortunately never had a positive test in hand.
All tests have been done and everything is perfectly in order, which makes it even more frustrating. Had the third IUI a week ago. We'll know the result within a week.

Hopefully, each of us will get good news soon!

Hi ladies... Gosh, it's been quite a while already.. I've been trying for a year now with no result. In December I had an internal ultrasound.. the left ovary is sometimes not visible. One time it looks like PCOS, other times it's normal. But because my periods are so irregular, I'm almost ready to start with Clomid. First, I'll take Provera to induce a period, then Clomid and an ultrasound to see how it goes. Very nerve-wracking but also really nice that I got referred so quickly.

    Hi ladies,
It's nice to read that I'm not the only one. Since January 2017, we've been trying to get pregnant.
Last week, we had our first appointment at the hospital. They're going to map out my cycle and also look into my partner's 'contribution'.
Don't lose hope! I'm sure a baby will be blessed to us too!

I'm cheering for everyone!! Hopefully good news soon!
Does anyone have an idea what the chance is that, if everything is perfectly normal, there will still be no pregnancy after all possible treatments? If I hear that, it seems to me that most people do get pregnant after x number of treatments. Or is that not the case?

    Good luck to everyone! ????

    Hi ladies,
I happen to know two cases where there was an unexplained reason why they were trying for 2.5 years and even 3.5 years, but in the end, both got pregnant. So it really can take a bit longer. Don't lose hope!
We now know that it's due to my partner's swimmers. A big blow, but we're waiting to see if there are still options. Naturally, it definitely won't work out.

    Hi ladies,
I hope you're all doing well and I wish you all the best of luck.
I'm almost 40 now and have been trying to get pregnant for a long time. Since 2016, I've been going through all kinds of tests and finally started treatment in June 2017. It's been really exhausting and uncertain. The first time worked out, but unfortunately, I had a miscarriage, and since then, it's been nothing but bad news. I still have 4 more rounds to go, and after that, it'll be IVF. They've now increased my dosage from 75 to 112.50 Menopur, hoping that more eggs will develop than just one each time.
Hopefully, it'll work out before I have to switch to IVF. I find it all quite difficult, and unfortunately, staying positive isn't getting any easier.
    Best wishes,

    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,
What a tough process we're in, huh? It takes such a toll on both your body and mind.
Your age is also playing a role, which adds even more pressure. I hope you get to hold a positive test in your hands very soon, and that everything goes smoothly from there. We have control over many things in life, but unfortunately, pregnancy isn't one of them.

    Hi Louisag,
Yes, that's definitely true! I definitely feel extra pressure because of my age. I basically feel like it's now or never. After the miscarriage, I really got into a very negative mindset. Luckily, I can find a lot of support from my partner and recently started seeing a psychologist. It's all part of the package on the way to getting pregnant. I really appreciate it and now also sharing your story on forums like this with women who are going through the same thing. It gives me a lot of support, which I didn't expect. I empathize with everyone and truly hope that everyone gets what they wish for. If only we had more control over it.
I know someone whose partner had the problem. His sperm wasn't moving at all. But after the first IVF treatment... they got pregnant right away and had a healthy baby girl :-)
So stay positive (however hard that may be). Nowadays, they can really do a lot! Thank goodness!

    Hi ladies,
How are you all doing now? X
  15. Trees87 #16

Meanwhile here on oral hormones and next week egg monitoring. And with you?
  16. Dromertje #17

I just took the last Clomid yesterday for the fourth and final IUI. On Wednesday I have to go for follicle monitoring. I'm a bit scared that there will be too many eggs and thus a missed chance because I had to double the dose from 50mg to 100mg. But the side effects are not to be underestimated. Last month I had a lot of trouble too. Eye pain, headache, nausea, dizziness, sometimes flashes in front of my eyes. And just feeling awful. I also have a cold and I had that last month right when I was taking Clomid. Coincidence or not, no idea. Hopefully I'll feel fit again soon and the fourth time will be the charm. Because taking all those things and injections, it really doesn't feel healthy..

I hope for everyone that we all get good news soon!

oooh daydreamer ... that's not nice!!
I took clomid for 5 days and now I'm taking progynova.
No negative side effects so far!
I think with a double dose this might be possible ... very annoying!
    good luck!

Second round.....now waiting to see if it worked. Fingers crossed! :-)

It's been 15 months already... hope is starting to run out, and I'm getting more and more frustrated.. why can't we make it happen, why isn't it meant to be for us. An emotional rollercoaster of anger, sadness, fear.. help, how do I distract myself?
