Do you still shave down there as the due date gets closer?

I’m naturally happy blonde and therefore not so hairy. I normally shave down there once a week and my legs in the summer. In winter I’m definitely a bit lazier with shaving my legs haha, so I don’t worry too much about that. I can still just about manage it now, though it’s a bit tricky, and I’m wondering how I’m going to do it later. I’m not too keen on doing it by feel, maybe I can ask my partner. It’s not a big deal to me, and apparently not to him either, that I don’t always have to be completely smooth, but I can imagine it’s nice if it’s a bit tidy for the birth. Especially with the battlefield it’s going to be afterwards, if I have to believe the stories!

luckily it varies a lot from woman to woman, for me there was nothing wrong

The best option is definitely permanent hair removal with IPL. No more hassle with hair... I'm finally free of it, so don't worry about anything for the birth.

Interesting topic, and personally I find it a bit sad to read how many people feel ashamed of their bodies, want to look 'pretty', or think pubic hair is unhygienic.

Just do whatever makes you feel good. Shaving your pubic hair to be cleaner or prettier is silly + do you really think during childbirth a midwife will be the only one to raise an eyebrow at it? They're used to it, and if it's really a jungle they'll probably trim it a bit themselves

In some countries they don't have running water, and long locks that haven't been washed for a few days might lead to less clean situations. But the people here exchanging experiences all have internet, so presumably also running water: if you wash regularly it stays fresh down there too.

My belly was so big at the end that shaving down there was just too much to handle. I think if I had tried, I might have accidentally cut myself. Plus, I had other things on my mind during labor. Also, I work in healthcare as a district nurse, and when I help my clients with showering, I don't consciously look down there either. You just don't register those kinds of things in care; you're more focused on spotting any alarming signs that a doctor might need to look at, like a separate birthmark.

I didn't want any photos of my private parts during childbirth, so I wasn't worried about what was down there. I have photos in my own baby book from when I was born showing my mom's private parts as I came out, and I was like, no thanks, that doesn't need to happen for me. My mom had very subtly put a paperclip around the pages with those photos so you could skip them
