Do you still shave down there as the due date gets closer?

Well... ladies, when I read your stories, I think, I’m really weird.

I really want everything to be super clean during labor, but I feel too embarrassed to go to a salon, and having my partner do it feels extremely awkward and uncomfortable to me So I’m crying over what I should do

You're not weird. I think leaving it up to your partner is also a form of surrender. The first time he did it with me, it was also scary. But he's seen the underside more often, so just lie back on the bed and let him do his thing. Read a book or relax with some music in your ears. Before you know it, he'll be done.

Otherwise, you'd have to squat with a mirror and torment yourself with your big belly, or just let it be—that's an option too. People who are present during childbirth see it 100 times a day.

    Good luck!

I go by feel, and I let my partner check if it's completely gone. Whatever's left, I try to do myself. If I really don't want to, I leave it to my partner. I'd prefer to do it myself, but if it doesn't work out, then it doesn't.
But I totally get you, 'anonymous'.
It also seems weird to me to go to a salon for that, so I'd rather leave it to my partner.

Well, I don't need to ask my husband. He doesn't mind if it's not completely bald, as long as it's not a jungle, so he thinks it's unnecessary to do it every other day (which is what I prefer). Although he would be happy to do it if I really wanted to, but he's way too scared of hurting me. I can still do it myself quite well. (Now 32.5 weeks) Anyway, at least once a week, and if possible, I try to do it a bit more often.

I don't even dare to reply anymore to this question/topic about shaving under my registered name, let alone under my real name. I think I'm really weird!

But I'm only 17 weeks pregnant and recently shaved based on how I felt, and only along the bikini line. I thought then that this is the last time I'll shave there, unless I go swimming (just out of social embarrassment).

I'll still shave my legs and armpits because I think it looks nicer. But down there, there's already quite a bush. So a little more or less doesn't matter.

I read a lot about "for hygienic reasons," but what's unhygienic about it? I don't think it's dirty if I shower every day. And hair grows there because that's how we're born; otherwise, we'd be hairless.

And as some have already said, hospitals see a lot more. I also used to go to the sauna often, and there you see all kinds of "types and sizes" of hair growth...

So, I'll just leave it as it is.

Not weird at all. Just do what feels good to you One person likes it completely bald, and the other doesn't care. That's each their own

I had a C-section in October, and I’m going to tidy everything up before I go in there hahaha
  8. fay Guest #48

I did it because my husband kept pushing me, saying it looks neater when you go into labor. Even though he has a point, I found him a bit pushy, ha ha ha. Best, Fay

I didn't have the time because I was in the hospital 4 weeks before my due date with ruptured membranes, and you're not allowed to sit in the birthing ball for too long due to the risk of infection. Luckily, I had done it just before that, and I was induced at 37 weeks!!
  10. Anonymous Guest #50

I shaved it both times based on instinct—you can feel if you've missed anything. I kept it well-groomed in the last few weeks and did it again once I started having contractions.

Everyone should do what feels right for them.

I definitely don't feel comfortable with a bush of hair, especially since I've never had one... so I won't have one during childbirth either.

I let my husband do it. Was a bit scary hahaha. But hey, he's a man so he knows how to shave. He even painted my toenails when I couldn't anymore haha.

Now you'll probably laugh at me, but my husband even brushed out all the tangles from my long hair. I felt so tired during pregnancy, too tired to comb it. Now in the mornings he does our girl's hair, so I'm at least on time for work, less stressed, and in the weekend he does it too. At some point it just grew on us, you surely understand that I never want to lose him, ha ha ha. Greetings, Fay

    Haha,
My husband also painted my toenails. It didn’t look that terrible after all
I’ve been updating the bottom part with the mirror in the last few weeks. I wouldn’t ask my husband to do that; he already has a lot of stickers on him when he shaves his beard.
    I’m scared of waxing.

You guys don't need to whine so much, okay! Just shave if you want to, and if not, don't.

It doesn't matter anyway. As if you'll even think about your box when you're having contractions.
As if you'd look fresher while you're panting and puffing and pushing the baby out, it won't look great with everything coming out anyway... so who cares!

Go with your gut or just let your partner help you out.

But believe me, they're used to it, but I can imagine you just want to take care of yourself nicely and keep things tidy. You've done well too!
  16. madelene #56

I sure do. And I keep it trimmed anyway, trying to do it as much as possible because my man isn’t really into the hairy look.
It’s been like this since I started dating him—I always shave down there.
    Especially for the birth, too.
My man shaves himself down there as well.
  17. madelene #57

I find that a bit of a messy look, with all the hair down there.
I shaved when I gave birth to my daughters and will do the same for the third time now.
  18. madelene #58

Oops, forgot to mention. I think I'll have my husband pick it up. He can do that perfectly
  19. Anonymous Guest #59

I’ll let my partner do it too. Then I’m sure it’s done properly. He can do it too, since he also has a beard and hair down there. This third pregnancy, though. The second time I gave birth with hair, but I’m not doing that again. The first time I did it myself... sort of.
He says the little man deserves a happy ending for his work, haha. So let’s do it!

Anonymous, hahaha kind of like "what's done is done" :-) I wouldn't dare let my husband shave me. He probably would have done it if I'd asked, but I find it too scary with such a sharp blade :-) So I did it myself, even on the day of the birth. In the end, I just did it by feel, I could only see my belly :-) I do know that hospital staff don't really pay much attention to that area, but for myself, it just feels nice when it's neat.
