Pregnant and no one knows yet

Hi everyone

So I have a few questions. I'm 22 and will be 23 in a few months.
I found out I'm unexpectedly pregnant.
I live with my boyfriend and we once talked about what we'd do if I got pregnant. The problem is that he's very negative about it. His first reactions were like "just get rid of it" or "then we'll break up if you don't." Now that I know I'm pregnant, I'm terrified to tell him. Actually, our relationship is pretty good overall, with ups and downs like any relationship has. I have no idea what to do. Has anyone been through this? Can you help me?

When I was pregnant (very young), my then-boyfriend also said that if I kept the baby, our relationship would be over. I had an abortion and still regret it every day.

Just how I see it, your friend clearly isn't into it, but men usually need some time to get used to the idea. For some men, it takes a lot of time; only when the baby is born can they imagine it and feel something about it. For us, it starts in our heads before we're even pregnant.

But a baby is for life, always stays with you, loves you unconditionally, is a piece of yourself. A man can always walk away.

That's the difference. Having a baby is a very beautiful gift; don't let anyone take that away from you.

I was in a situation where my husband, whom I’ve been happily living with for 12 years now and who is the father of my two kids, also wanted me to have an abortion. Basically, he was married at the time and already had a son, but I felt that this baby wasn’t in my belly for no reason—it was meant to be. I made it clear to him, with a lot of pain in my heart, that he could choose his family, but I would never abort my baby.

In the end, he decided to divorce and go for us and our child. He couldn’t handle the idea of me keeping our baby and him being there, which is why he initially wanted me to have an abortion.

But now he’s happily living with our little family and doesn’t even understand how he could’ve asked me that.

So even if something seems hopeless and impossible at times, it can turn out positively.

Wishing you lots of strength and courage in your situation.

    Greetings, Madelene
