life of a young mom

As everyone knows, it's not easy to have a child, but it's the most beautiful gift ever. Before anyone judges, I was 17 when I got pregnant and now I'm 20. I bought everything with my savings and my boyfriend had a job. We have a little house together and I'm starting work again soon. Our little guy is such a cheerful kid. I wouldn't know what to do without him. Now my question is: How old were you when you had your first child, and did you have everything sorted out?

That's true. No one should be doing that, but still, people look at me weirdly outside.
Then I think, hey, I'm already 20, you know. Yeah, it was pretty tough because I was still in school and had saved up money, and with that I bought baby stuff. And I found it quite nice, a little miracle.

    Oh, what a lovely age!

Or maybe they admire you instead?

And yes, hats off, you had big responsibilities and yet you pulled it off..
No really, I admire you! Doing so well at such a young age!

@proudmommy I'm 22 weeks pregnant myself and 24 years old. I turn 25 in November and the little girl is due in January.

When I was 17, I really wasn't ready to be a mom, but I think it's a lovely idea to still be able to keep up well when our little girl is a bit older... She'll consciously experience my 40th birthday, etc., and you can really do nice things with a young family, that's my idea....

    Yes, definitely Renate, you're right..
I wish I could have become a mom younger too, but yeah I only became a mom at 28 and as you know the second one at 30.

But I'm lucky to have had the chance to become a mom..

My mom was 16 (almost 17) when she became a mom for the first time, and it's so nice to have such a small age difference, it's like they're sisters

20 years old when pregnant and gave birth at 21. I live with my boyfriend and I have no regrets for a single moment.

    Hi proudmommyy,
I got pregnant at 17 and became a mom at 18.
I had already finished school back then.
And I bought everything with my savings.
But unfortunately, I had to do it all alone.
Now my little ones are almost 4 years old.
A twin boy and a girl.
You did a good job, girl.
Let people think what they want; age doesn't matter when it comes to becoming a mom x

22 years old and pregnant with our son, now 25 almost, and the second one on the way.
Did we have everything ready? Not really, my husband is from abroad and suddenly I was heavily pregnant with a man who was almost going to be deported because of paperwork.
Now we still don't have everything 100% ready. We have a rental apartment, but we're happy. And I see from my son that he's also happy and loved. That's all a person needs!

Msmicevski, I totally agree with you.
I'm 18 and have a little girl for over 2 years. And a really sweet guy. Yeah, things weren't exactly in order, but we're making the best of it. In two months, I hope to get my diploma. Another high point. And I hope to be pregnant again soon.

I think it’s different for everyone again. It mainly depends on how mentally you’re handling it, whether you can cope, and if you have a lot of patience. I was 22 with the first one, but I had a lot of help. From my mom, my husband did a lot himself, and from our au pair. But I’ll be honest, I might have found it even heavier without that support. And I don’t know if I would’ve had a second child so soon. I can’t know for sure because I had all that help around me. I don’t know how it would’ve been if it had been different and more on me.
    Greetings, Madelene

I'm 21 myself and will be almost 22 when our hummus is born in September. I have rheumatism, and I've been advised not to wait too long to have kids... People sometimes say on the street that I don't know what I'm getting into, and that it's still so early. They don't know anything else about my story. That can really hurt! Since yesterday, my husband and I have been feeling our baby really well. Then you just know that it's all worth it!
