Pregnant and single, 18 weeks

Hello lovely mothers, and expectant mothers.

I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and have found myself in calmer and happier waters after a big scare. I'm super happy and proud of my pregnancy now, but being single and pregnant without a plan can feel quite lonely at times. I'm starting to feel more of a need to share, both the sadness and the pride! Are there more women who recognize this and would enjoy chatting?

Best wishes, Fzien.

    Hi hi

First of all, congratulations. ..respect for you, I can really imagine that you need warmth, etc., and especially now during pregnancy you really need warmth and love, but don't forget that little miracle is part of you and you'll get a lot of warmth from it later!! I don't know if you already feel the little one by now, but then you'll really feel the warmth and love of the most beautiful miracle there is and that's all yours. I can really imagine it, but enjoy it... this time goes by so fast..

    Hi friend!

I know how you feel. I have 3 kids and my ex left me more or less during the pregnancies. It was hell, but the love and feelings I had, and even after the births, were worth so much more than his absence. Everyone around me wondered why I had 3 kids with such an egoist, but yeah, I was naive then and hoped too much that he would change his mind. Now I'm really enjoying my kids and he'll eventually realize what he's missing. I've never regretted that things turned out this way. I won't say it was easy being on my own, but it was worth it and I've become so much stronger because of it.

I think I just had bad luck, because after years I now have a new partner and things are going great. We've decided to have another child and with him I had the ideal pregnancy, which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. We're trying again now and hope to be pregnant soon.

Be proud of yourself because soon you'll have a miracle in your arms. And together you'll share the most beautiful feeling of mother and child

you just have to think like this: soon you'll have your baby, and that baby will love you unconditionally. A relationship can end, but your child will always stay with you. Best wishes, Marieke

I think the ladies who do it all on their own are super strong. My mom did it with 3 kids too, and she did a great job. Even though it was hard sometimes.

But ladies, respect to you all.

    Hi Fzien,
In my practice Essential Awakening, I guide fathers and mothers who are longing for a child. Your situation is a bit different in that the pregnancy was unplanned. Still, I’m convinced that a baby chooses its own father and mother, and they don’t need to be in a relationship.
You might want to do this all on your own, or maybe the father will still take on a dad role. Both are okay! And it’s your decision. What matters now is that you allow yourself to enjoy this. This baby sees you as a mother!! Let friends and/or family spoil you. I wish you lots of wisdom and strength,
    Liefs, Ingrid

I’m 23 weeks pregnant now, but my boyfriend left me at 18 weeks. He really wanted a child and kept pushing for it throughout our two-year relationship. I have two beautiful boys from a previous relationship and had my doubts. Still, I really wanted to build a family with someone, and my “pink cloud” kept getting closer and closer. Experiencing pregnancy together in a loving way, watching a baby grow and bloom close to me. After two months of no conception, I was already pregnant, and we were both on that pink cloud. But after a while, I felt him pulling away... I didn’t understand it at all. This was what he wanted too, a child, a family. Was he being influenced by someone? What was going on? I found him crying in the kitchen. I had my doubts about the sincerity of his tears. He told me he suspected he might be autistic. His father apparently was too, and he recognized himself in the description. I didn’t see the problem and thought in terms of solutions, because for me, the family was the most important thing. Not for him, though. He became more and more convinced that he couldn’t handle it. I was angry and sad because he didn’t even give it a chance. After a lot of arguing, he left for his parents’ place. I’m still convinced he’s being negatively influenced somewhere, because this isn’t the man I got to know. The man who wanted a child so badly and always said family comes first. He says he wants to be a father but can’t do the rest. He says he wants to support me during the pregnancy by, among other things, doing the grocery shopping. If I need help, I can call him. Hiring household help is nothing compared to the pain he’s causing me and the kids. My boys and I are going through a grieving process now. Loss of a relationship, loss of the family, and all our future plans have to be thrown out the window all at once. I take care of two kids, run a household, and work 28 hours a week. And above all, I’m pregnant and should really be getting extra attention and love right now. I can only cry about what’s happening now. I’m trying to accept the situation as it is and stay as unangry as possible, because I want this baby to be born in love too. I feel so alone and sad. Could things ever get better?

    Oh Sharon
What a story! It’s been a while since you posted this here, but I was really curious how things are going for you now.
