Third pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I'm now over 17 weeks pregnant with my third child. However, this pregnancy wasn't planned, and I had to really get used to the fact that I get to be a mom one more time.

Now I'm slowly getting used to it and feel like the happiest woman in the world. But it's still quite an anxious time for me because my previous pregnancies didn't go without complications. I'm trying to prepare myself as best as I can and make sure everything goes well this time around.

I hope to find some support here and share experiences with you all.

Best,

Patricia

    Hi Patricia,

That sounds exciting! I can totally imagine what you're saying. I've had HELLP syndrome twice, and that really holds me back from getting pregnant again. I'm quite scared that something might go wrong with me this time.

Is everything going well so far?

    Hi Esmee,

    Wow, that sounds really intense!
I can totally imagine that you're thinking long and hard about whether you'd dare to go through it again.

So far, everything's going well for me. But things went wrong for me around 22 weeks. I kept having too little amniotic fluid and the babies were too small. Well, a small baby isn't such a big deal , but too little amniotic fluid is a problem. I had to go to the hospital three to four times a week for check-ups, and every time there was that uncertainty about the results. I also had a different obstetrician each time with their own opinion, which was really frustrating.

My labours didn't go smoothly either; each time I was right on the edge of needing a C-section, which added a lot of stress. Now I'm just hoping that all this is spared for me this time so I can enjoy this pregnancy.

How big is the chance that you'll get HELLP syndrome again?

With you it's unexpectedly funny. I'm actually very consciously planning for a possible third child, by the way. My two little girls were also very consciously planned. Greetings, Myrte

Hi Myrte, that sounds like a really beautiful approach. Choosing and planning consciously often gives you that sense of control, especially when you're doubting. I can imagine you think deeply before you start again. It's good to take that doubt seriously. Is everything okay with the little two?
