Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, so I'll introduce myself: I'm Cindy, 36, and mom to two beautiful kids. Sem, who's 9 and 5, and Daphne, who's almost 7.
We thought our family was complete, but in January we found out I'm pregnant again! After the initial shock, we're really happy about it, and I'm now 21 weeks along... I'm really curious about experiences with a so-called "after-child" (I actually think it's a nasty term, but that's beside the point...). Who has experience with this and would like to share?

Greetings!

    Hi Cindy,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

I don't have personal experience with having a younger sibling myself, but I did experience it at the age of 10-11

I got a little sister then, and 18 months after my sister, I got a little brother So I'm 11 and 12 years younger than my brother and sister... and I have to say I love being the big sister! In the early years, they don't benefit from it that much, especially not when Sem and Daphne (nice name by the way call her that too..) are in their teenage years, which was how it was for me... but now I'm 23 years old and a mom to a wonderful 4-month-old daughter, and I really enjoy having my brother and sister! They visit often, and I often go to my parents' house for them, etc. The bond is very strong, and they come to me with all their questions instead of to our mom haha..

You don't need to worry at all... a brother/sister is and remains a brother/sister regardless of the age difference. They will always be there for each other! And when they're older, they'll benefit from each other much more than you can imagine now

Time will tell! Enjoy your child to the fullest; they'll enjoy it too because there's nothing as fun as getting a little brother or sister... even if they're a bit older!

    Lots of love and enjoy!!

    @Cindy,

congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope everything goes well..
I also got a little one in November, indeed a weird word.
Miquel was born in November after I had stopped expecting kids.
He has 2 older brothers, 17 and 12 years old, I just turned 40..

A real boys' family, all MEN...
    But good, lucky and healthy..
I had to get used to it a lot but now the rhythm is there...

Kind regards and enjoy and keep enjoying

    Hi Cindy,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Here’s a little gift too, as we call it.
A daughter who is 16, (bonus) son who is 9, and Lucas is now 5 months old.
Not planned, but still received, and so happy with our little boy.

The difference is that I’m now so aware of everything; it was much less so with my first because everything seemed "normal." After years of waiting for a second child, I’m now aware that having a baby is truly a miracle.

    Good luck with your children,

    Warm regards,
    Dani

    Hi Cindy,

    Congratulations!
We also have a little one on the way (at 38) and in our case it was planned.
Vera is already (exactly today) six months old. Our eldest daughter turned 11 in February and our son will be 9 in August.

It's truly a joy, even for the older kids, as they're very much involved.
Wishing you a very pleasant pregnancy!

    Best, Gerda

Hi, I'm 39 weeks and 10 days pregnant now. Tonight is the first ultrasound, which I'm quite nervous about. I'm scared they won't see any heartbeat. I have a 17-year-old son, and he thinks it's great!!

    Hi Marian,

Congratulations! How are you doing now that you're already 18 weeks along? How's the pregnancy going? I'm 41 years old and pregnant with my fourth child.

    Hi Ju,
It's going great!! So far no complaints and the belly is growing nicely. How are you doing? It's definitely different from being pregnant at 21, haha.

Hi, I'm 38 and we've just consciously decided to have a 5th child, which will be a "late addition." My oldest son is 20, and my youngest daughter is 9. So I started early and ended later. I hope to get pregnant soon. How quickly did it happen for you?

    Hi ladies,

We’re also hoping for our little one.
Our son (17) and daughter (13) are hoping for it too.
    I’m 35 myself.

    Love, Ezzie

    Hi Cindy,
I don’t have a “little one” yet myself (my youngest is 12), but I did experience it as a kid. I was 15 when my little sister was born, and oh, how happy I was! I was the oldest at home and already had two little brothers. My sister was a very welcome addition to our family. I took her everywhere with me and really felt like her big sister..

My kids are 17, 14, and 12 years old, and especially the two youngest can’t wait to welcome a brother or sister:-)

    Love, Blauwdeb

Hi Cindy. Here too, a late miracle. I already have a 16-year-old daughter, and now I'm 26 weeks pregnant with the second. Never thought it would happen. Especially since the doctors said I couldn't have children anymore. So this came as a complete surprise.

    Greetings from the south.

Hi! I have two teenage daughters, aged 18 and 15, and a 6-year-old daughter. I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with a boy. When he's born, the eldest will be 19 and 16. I find it amazing to be a mother again.

That's nice, I'll click on the link for a moment.
