Anyone to cheer up the words?

I posted my message on several sites but I'm hoping for encouraging responses, so I'm trying my luck here too..

Last Saturday I tested and yohoo positive... After looking at it and calculating, I should be about 7 weeks pregnant.
But yesterday afternoon at work out of nowhere... Terrible lower abdominal pain and some time later bleeding. It looked old but there was a lot of it.
I called the midwife and she immediately arranged for us to go to the hospital for an ultrasound.
We went there feeling it would be either good or bad... But we left with the news: the gestational sac is not perfectly round and the baby has a slow heartbeat... It looks very much like a miscarriage is going to happen, please keep that in mind.

Since then I haven't had any abdominal pain or bleeding, and yet secretly I'm hoping but also so unsure... Is there anyone who has experience with this too? Preferably positive so I can hold on to a little hope.

    Encouraging words I meant

Oh my, dali80. Strength to you. It's possible that the heartbeat just started beating because you're still early in your pregnancy. And that the little heart will get stronger over time. Keep hoping. Miracles do happen. Love

Could they see how far along you were on the ultrasound?
  4. Ellis #5

I also wonder if they could see how far along you were on the ultrasound. Have you already scheduled a new ultrasound? I don't have personal experience with this, but I've read stories on the forum from women who were in the same situation as you, but where a strong heartbeat was heard a week or two later. So it's possible that it was just too early for a strong heartbeat.

I'm lighting a candle for you anyway and hope to hear good news from you soon!

Thank you so much for your responses, kleinewonder and ellis.
She couldn't see how far along I was. My intestines were so restless that the image was really bad.

I'm going to keep reading on the forum for a bit longer.
I have another ultrasound on Wednesday.

It's really frustrating, but somehow I feel like everything is okay, yet I'm so afraid of another hard blow.

Oh no! I hope everything turns out okay. Doctors aren't always right; let's hope the heartbeat continues?? And try not to think too much about a miscarriage. Try to relax.

Thank you so much, Linda, for your reply. I’m really trying not to think about it. I went to a birthday party this afternoon, but at the end, I had quite a bit of bleeding again. No cramps, and it looks like older blood... But yeah, still a lot

Try not to stress too much about it. It's easier said than done, but still... Keep us posted for sure, and if you need someone to chat with or anything like that, let us know. I'm really rooting for you! X

Super sweet, your message Ellis, I definitely feel like I want to talk about it. No one knows I'm pregnant and I can't talk to anyone about it. Yes, my husband, but he's very down-to-earth... We'll have to wait and see. He is very sweet to me though, but it's different. It's all happening in my body...
  10. Ellis #11

My husband is just like that.. we decided together that I would stop the pill. But otherwise, he doesn't need to know anything until there's black and white proof that I'm actually pregnant. It's true that it's all happening to the woman. So yeah, luckily we have the forum to talk about our worries and questions
You had an ultrasound on Wednesday, right? Luckily it's only a few days. But those will probably feel very long for you...

Oh, it's like I'm hearing my own husband hihi.

Just had a really big crying fit. Saw blood again Wednesday, indeed, an ultrasound, which is quite soon, but also quite far away..
I'm indeed glad with the forum, it really helps when you can just type things off your chest...

Have you been around for a long time?
  12. Ellis #13

I only just stopped the pill at the end of August. I had been ready for a baby for a long time, but it took a few years before my husband was convinced. He is older than me and already has 2 children. For him, that was enough, but luckily he realizes how important it is for me to have a baby of my own.

Since I just stopped, I should technically still be "un-pilling," but I've already started using ovulation tests and they're showing positive lines. So I think I've got a normal cycle right away. I'll only know for sure if I get my period or not at the end of this month.

May I ask how old you are and where you're from? Or do you prefer to stay anonymous?
  13. Marlies Guest #14

I went through the same thing 2 years ago. I had a lot of bleeding and was scared of a miscarriage, but in the end, there was nothing wrong with the baby. I had a hematoma in my uterus (a big bruise), which was the source of the bleeding. I also had bleeding twice around 6 or 7 weeks, and those pregnancies didn't go well, but there was no heartbeat then either. Lots of strength and try to stay positive, no matter how hard it is. I'm rooting for a healthy pregnancy for you and hoping the bleeding is harmless.

Ellis, that's so exciting! I can totally understand that you want a baby of your own. May I ask how old your kids are?
And it's so nice that you seem to have a regular cycle already! I'm crossing my fingers that you won't get your period at the end of the month ;-)

Tripple4, thanks for your message. It makes me feel good to read that things can still turn out well. You read a lot of different stories online, but they're often less positive. How wonderful that your girl was born healthy and safe! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything continues to go well.

Marlies, thank you for your message too, it's really sweet. A hematoma? I'll look it up (or should I better not?). Was there a lot of blood?

I still have a "positive" feeling despite the heavy bleeding making it seem unlikely. I'll just keep hoping/crossing my fingers and bury my head in the sand. If I pretend it's not there, it's not there (until I go to the bathroom again, then again...) I have to work tomorrow and I'm dreading it! Is it already Wednesday? pffff
  15. Natsje1982 #16

Oh no, Dali80! I'm sorry, but I don't have any comforting words for you. My midwife told me that the heartbeat usually starts beating properly around 8 weeks, but this can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy. On the internet, you read that it "should" be there from 6 weeks onwards. I always get so frustrated with those kinds of contradictions.... I can imagine how frustrating the uncertainty must be for you.

If I were you, I'd hold on to that positive feeling you have. You're having an ultrasound on Wednesday, so hopefully, you'll have some certainty then.

I think all men are just so down-to-earth... it's probably in their DNA or something.

    Stay strong, girl!

And let us know how the ultrasound went, okay?

Natsje1982, thanks for your reply. Those conflicting messages are indeed so annoying. It really makes you feel insecure, ugh.

That positive feeling is tough though... I have a good feeling, but then something happens and I think, oh no... it can't be good, why am I being so silly...

Definitely let me know how the ultrasound went. It's Wednesday morning, phew.

My post from yesterday didn't go through...
Dali, my partner's kids are 11 and 13, so pretty big already . Just one more day to count down and then you'll finally have certainty! What time do you need to go tomorrow?

Triplle and Marlies, I'm happy to hear your positive stories. How old are your kids now?
Natsje, I see you're already 34 weeks pregnant! Just one more month and you'll be able to hold your baby in your arms, so exciting! Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?
  18. Natsje1982 #19

Dali80, just keep holding on to that good feeling. It's your mother's instinct and that usually doesn't let you down. Good luck tomorrow morning.

Ellis, yes, I'm indeed already 34 weeks. 1.5 more weeks of work and then I'll be on leave. Then I only have to pack my hospital bag and wash all the baby clothes. And otherwise, just pamper myself! And then our girl can come slowly, though I'll really miss that kicking in my belly. Especially because this is my first and probably also my last pregnancy. My partner already has a son from a previous relationship, he's 9 now. So enjoy it to the fullest....

How are you doing? Can your partner's children handle it well? With us, my partner's son had a lot of trouble at first with being with his mom during the week and then with us on the weekends. He was only 3.5 then, so I can totally understand that. You can't really explain that to a kid like that. Now he can understand it well and is even happy that he's getting a sister.

At work again, and there's that bleeding again????

I wish it would only be tomorrow....
