At how many weeks do you go to the midwife?

Hi everyone, I just found out a couple of days ago that I'm pregnant. I was wondering when I should actually go to the midwife. Should I go right away or only when I'm 10 weeks pregnant? Or does it not matter and is it more about what I want?

    Hi Tosha,

Usually, you go to the midwife around 8 to 10 weeks for the first ultrasound. If you go earlier, it might be that you can't see the baby very well yet and the heartbeat might not be visible.

I had my first ultrasound at 8.5 weeks and could already see the baby quite clearly. This time, I went at 7.5 weeks because of a previous miscarriage, and it was significantly less visible (the heartbeat was there though, which was a relief for us). So my advice would be to have the first ultrasound after 8 weeks. At 10 weeks, the ultrasound is super nice!

    Greetings!
