I think everyone who has it.. It suddenly becomes definitive and that's why you start doubting, right? And with the hormones, this feeling gets amplified!
I always think like this: if you don't worry about it, it doesn't bother you. The fact that you do worry shows that you're going to do everything you can to make sure it doesn't happen.
You're allowed to feel a bit anxious every now and then. That's very normal, I do too. With my first, it was much more than later on, because now I know it turned out perfectly fine with the first two, and it will turn out perfectly fine for you too!
I used to live pretty carefree before my first pregnancy! Going out, traveling. Saw there was a nice party on Ibiza, off we went for a few days... Eating out four times a week..
Then I got pregnant... Had a lot of fears, can I pull this off, can we really handle this responsibility?
During the pregnancy, we slowly got used to it. And then she was here, our beautiful daughter... We both immediately felt an enormous sense of responsibility.
Of course, we still go out sometimes, now we go to Ibiza with our daughter, while we used to just party!
Meanwhile, pregnant with the second. Lovely!
You girl, fear and worries are part of it, but when you hold your baby in your arms, I'm sure nothing will be more important than your baby!
Hi Lexy, it's nice to hear that someone recognizes it and also has (had) a life like mine.
My boyfriend (now husband) and I used to go on vacation twice a year and would stroll around in a bikini in Crete, a 3-week vacation to South Africa, diving in Egypt... no worries in the world, getting nicely drunk in the evening, and all the women who had kids I'd think: oh how glad I am that I don't have kids yet! I was really a party animal, a free bird and in my feeling I had the whole world and freedom for myself! Financially we had (and still have) it good too and now you realize, now that I'm pregnant, what I have to give up. And it sounds so selfish and that's not what I mean at all, I've always wanted kids really, but this fear feeling really hits me in waves. We moved to London two years ago and I used to go out every weekend with colleagues, great just, working in London City, buying clothes, parties, whatever!!! And that just doesn't happen anymore, I knew this too before I was pregnant, but now it's so definitive. And I'm also very anxious about the fact "what if something goes wrong with the baby" oh I don't want to think about that! My girlfriend had a baby two years ago and it developed terribly. Now they found out at 1.5 years that it has a form of "Down syndrome"!! I know this is doom thinking but so much runs through my head, bah, not nice but I guess it comes with it.....even though we really wanted a baby, and are super happy with it, this fear overwhelms me. My husband doesn't have this by the way. He's the opposite, also about 7.5 years older and never been a party animal, he always let me have a lot of freedom, he would still do that now I know, so I have nothing to complain about actually......
I totally relate to the above! Currently 12 weeks pregnant, and my hormones are going wild. I gladly blame them for those thoughts, hehe! Anxiety is a bad advisor, but it's not entirely wrong to pause and think about what could go wrong. I often get overwhelmed by the feeling of 'oh dear, can I really do this? Is it too early?'... and then I immediately feel guilty, even though I think these thoughts are just part of it. Doesn't take away from the fact that I like them though ;-)
We just got back from a spontaneous midweek getaway with 2 kids. It can be done, sure, but your priorities change. Now I think it's more important that the kids have a good time. That's the best thing you can experience :-)
