5 years old and still wearing diapers at night

5 years old is not weird at all. It's only when a child is still wetting the bed at 7 years old that it's officially called 'bedwetting' and you might start thinking about ways to address it. Until then, don't worry about it.
Every child is just faster than the other.

Hi Josje, thank you so much for your reply.
Yes, it's true that every child has their own rhythm and pace.
My husband started getting worried though.
She sometimes wets herself during the day too, just less often than at night.
We still use diapers for nighttime.
At first he’d get a bit upset with her and ignore her for a while after she wet herself, but he always regretted it.
He thought it was sad and realized it wasn’t working—it wasn’t the right approach.
But we’ll keep an eye on it until she’s a bit older.
    Greetings, Madelene

What also works for some kids is to keep the underwear on and put a diaper over it. That way they do feel that they're getting wet and find it unpleasant to pee in the diaper pretty quickly. Nowadays diapers stay so dry that it's not a big deal at all to wear them all night long

    Hi Iza,
Thanks also for your tip, I'll definitely try that.
It's also that my husband suddenly got so stressed about it that I got really worked up too.
I just felt it was so unfair for my little girl.
But I'll definitely try it; it's true that these modern diapers are so good at keeping things in that they don't let anything through, so they don't feel it, indeed.
I hadn't thought of that before.
    Makes sense, though.
    Greetings, Madelene
