Our girl is climbing out of her toddler bed.

Our Sas recently switched to a toddler bed (from IKEA) because she outgrew her crib. She just doesn’t quite get that she needs to stay in her bed to go to sleep, and regularly wanders around her room after we put her in bed.
When we go upstairs to put her back in bed, she’s completely done for and wants to go to sleep. If we don’t do that, she doesn’t climb back into her bed either :-(

What’s the best thing to do now??

Greetings, Freyda

Maybe buy one of those single beds/sofas (the kind that's higher on three sides and place it upside down against the wall so she can't get out?). Our oldest stays neatly in his bed, so I don't have any other tips. He does wear a sleeping bag, maybe that makes a difference?

I'd say just keep going with it. If she gets out of bed more than once, just put her back in without engaging in conversation. If you do this a few times, she'll understand that she needs to stay in bed at night.
Alternatively, make sure her room is completely safe for her to play in without supervision and let her play around until she falls asleep on her own, but that could take a long time and she might not end up in her crib.

I had the door handle up for a while. Her room was baby-proofed, so if she went to play for a bit, it wasn't a big deal. At least she couldn't get out of the room. In the end, she was always sleeping in bed.
