Itchy!

Wen
I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and one ailment follows the other.
From ligament pain, I'm now experiencing (headaches and) severe itching with tiny red bumps...
Does anyone know this? And maybe some tips? (for the itching)
Thanks in advance, greetings,

Wen. ;-)

Hi Annabel, thanks for the tip.
The itching was mainly on my upper body, breasts, neck, upper back, and forearms. Tiny red spots. Unexplainable.
Fortunately, the itching is already decreasing. I’ve also just stopped using the pregnancy oil for now. For the time being, I’m using diaper cream, I think it has less perfume in it, and it’s working really well. And the menthol does indeed help keep the itching at bay a bit.

Hi Wen. I had really bad itching during my first pregnancy too (especially on my hands, arms, and belly). It started a bit later in the pregnancy, around week 23. I only had a few red bumps, nothing major. It could be that you're allergic to something (though I'm not a doctor, of course).

In my case, it turned out to be pregnancy itch (cholestasis), diagnosed via a blood test. It should have been checked much earlier for me—I spent weeks sitting on the couch scratching. You can get something for it. I'd definitely talk to your midwife or GP about it. It's important to get it checked out. Let me know what you decide? Best wishes and good luck, Jolien :-)

    Hey ladies,

I also suffer from dry skin, which causes intense itching.
My helps by keeping me applying regular Zwitsal cream.

And oh yes, in combination with the itching, it's also handy to keep your nails short.
Unfortunately, I don't have control over myself at night, so I often scratch myself when I'm asleep.

Good luck, girls, and hopefully you'll find my tip useful :-)

Drink lots of water; the itching should go away if all goes well. It happens because your liver isn't functioning quite as well due to all the changes in your hormonal balance. If it gets really bad, I'd recommend getting in touch with your midwife or gynecologist just to be safe.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant now and have some experience with discomforts. At first I had round ligament pain, sometimes headaches and itching on my belly, legs, and breasts. It can drive you crazy. The midwife suggested using baby powder for the itching, and that does help. Good luck!!!!:-D;-)

Girls, thanks for your tips! I already have less itching, yay! The menthol and drinking water seem to help a lot! It's so nice to finally get some long, peaceful nights of sleep without being woken up by the itching.

    Hi..
I've been having terrible itching on my upper belly and breasts for a week now. The GP told me to stop using the Mama cream from Hema and to apply Vaseline twice a day, and at night use some kind of hormone cream. I'm not really keen on hormone meds, but the rash is getting worse and worse. Does anyone have any advice?

Yes, I recognize it too... I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant now and also have itching.
Especially on my belly, breasts, and arms. I had red bumps too, but they're going away now. I've been using Mamacare from the start.

Dear ladies, itching on your belly is awful. At 19 weeks I had severe itching and small bumps on my belly. It was dry, and really stretching. I bought pure coconut oil at the store that morning/afternoon/evening and rubbed it on, and after 2 days it was gone! Coconut oil!!!!!! So.
