Clomid

Evitjee
Hi everyone.
I'm starting Duphaston for the second time on Tuesday to induce my period. Since I stopped the pill in October 2018, I haven't had a period on my own. The gynecologist first wanted to see if my cycle would kick back in just by taking Duphaston, but that didn't happen. My ovaries are pretty lazy, so now I need to take Duphaston again to bring on my period, and then I'll start Clomid. This is my first time using it, and I hope to get pregnant quickly because of it. The ultrasound beforehand showed that I have a lot of eggs in my ovaries, but they just need to release. I often read that some people get pregnant right away on the first round of Clomid, and secretly, I've got my hopes up a bit. Which might not be great for potential disappointment later on. Are there any others here who have experience with Clomid?
P.S. I just turned 23.

    Hey Evitjee,
I just finished my third round of Clomid... I assume it usually takes 4 to 6 times. Not that I don’t believe it could work right away, but I got really down when it didn’t happen immediately. So I can imagine it’s better to expect a slightly longer period...

    Hi selgomez,
I know I shouldn't assume it'll work right away, but it's stronger than me. How does your body react to Clomid? I'm really curious how mine will respond.
  3. Selgomez #4

    Hi Evitjee,
At first, my body reacted quite strongly to Clomid. I got very grumpy, and my breasts hurt a lot! During my follicle scan, I had one egg ready at 22mm and another at 13mm. So I did respond well to it :-)
This month, I only have sensitive nipples, but whether that's from the Clomid, I can't say (yet). It could also be from my ovulation.

I hope for you that it's from ovulation. I've seen that you've been trying for a while now. What dose of Clomid are you taking now? I have to start with 1 tablet.
  5. Selgomez #6

    I take 1 tablet :-) (so 50 mg).
They always start with 1 tablet, because you might overproduce, and then you might have 5 eggs ready to go That way, they can adjust how much you need.
Have you been doing this for a long time?

Nope, not that long yet. I stopped the pill in October 2018, so it's been almost 5 months now.

    Hi ladies!
I'm just following along! Started Clomid yesterday and I'm already reacting pretty strongly to it

    Hi catlady12,
What are your symptoms? Is this the first time you're using it? I normally start Clomid on Monday. First, I'll take Duphaston until Thursday to induce my period.

    Hey Evitjee
I've been in a bad mood, super emotional, with a headache and swollen breasts. Occasional hot flashes too.
Saturday and Sunday were absolutely terrible. Today I only have a headache and swollen breasts left. The hot flashes haven't completely gone away yet.
It's indeed the first time I'm using Clomid. Two more days to go!
My period started on Friday and is already over today; normally it lasts 5 days. It'll come back on its own.
    Good luck!

    Hi everyone!

I took my first Clomid pill today too. When did the side effects start for you all? Did you only experience them during the 5-day course, or also afterwards?

    Thanks & good luck!
  11. Catlady12 #12

    Hi L.
They started for me pretty quickly, actually. I was really glad to be rid of them!
Hopefully this round is the one, or else another attempt!
I’m supposed to get my period next week. I’ve had stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, sore breasts, huge hunger, and heartburn for a few days now. I don’t dare to hope...
Have you been trying for a long time?
    Good luck!

Oh no, so sorry to hear that you were feeling so bad! How long did the side effects last? I'm crossing my fingers that it goes better this time and that it's a girl?

I did have symptoms for three days. After taking my last pill, I was already feeling better. How far along are you, and how long have you been trying?
  14. L. Guest #15

Started my first pill yesterday. No side effects except for a nightmare, but that’s probably from the stress. We’ve been trying for 4 months now. That’s not too bad when I read it like that.
  15. Catlady12 #16

    Hi L.
Hope you're not having too many side effects. Some people are more sensitive to them than others.
Four months does seem like a while, I stopped the pill at the end of 2017. It took about 6 or 7 months for my cycle to get back on track. A bit of a "let's see what happens" attitude. Meanwhile, I'm on round 2 with follow-up at the gynecologist. First round without Clomid, now the first time with Clomid. I'm on the waiting bench now and going crazy from the uncertainty. All sorts of symptoms, but then I tell myself I'm imagining it, dare not hope!
    I'm rooting for you!

How long after the last Clomid pill did you ovulate? I'm not sure when I should start using ovulation tests. I hope it works quickly for everyone!
  17. Evitjee started this #18

    Hi L.
For me, Clomid (50mg) didn’t work. My follicles didn’t grow, so I didn’t ovulate. Normally, you ovulate between day 13 and 15, depending on your cycle. I haven’t done any ovulation tests yet. I think I’d go completely crazy being so focused on it. I’ve only been off the pill for about 6 months, but it feels like an eternity.

Did you ever have a rash on your face? Can you do something about it, and does it go away after those 5 pills? I think that's awful!
  19. Evitjee started this #20

I haven't had any results, no. Normally it should go away, maybe not right away, but that's just because of the hormones, right. I think there's not much you can do about it.
