An hour of breastfeeding?

Hi!
I've been a mom to our son for almost 4 weeks!
For the past 2 weeks, he's been nursing well and gained 200g in just one week, which is totally awesome!
The only thing is, he takes so long!
I start with one breast where he sometimes stays on it easily for half an hour, but I almost always have to detach him myself because he really won't let go (even during gas pains..ouch!).
Then I change him and offer the other breast. He drinks easily for another half hour there too (and I detach him myself..).
I don't get the feeling that he's drinking slower; it stays the same relaxed pace the whole time, but if I get the impression he's getting a bit fussy and I detach him, he starts putting his hands back in his mouth and searching with his mouth after about 10 minutes.

So I'm occupied with feeding for easily an hour...does anyone have tips on how I can speed this up a bit?

Thanks in advance :-)

So curious because it's the same here... our daughter is 7 weeks old now but also takes a long time to feed. Lately she even falls asleep sometimes and then wakes up hungry again haha..

I totally get that long feeding sessions. How much time is there between feeds then?
I was against the pacifier, but with my son I learned to recognize his sucking needs and I didn't use a pacifier anyway? He was also always very full from all that drinking, so I started stretching things out with the pacifier and that gave more calm. But it remains a (uncertain) search! Later on, the drinking really got faster, and it's totally normal for feeding to take a bit longer at the beginning, you know..

Maybe worth adding: at 4 months I ditched the pacifier because I had to get up more and more at night to put it back in his mouth, and he thanked me for that
