Experiences with Difrax breast pump?

Hi ladies,

We're expecting our twins in May! They'll be baby 5 and 6 in our family.
I'd really like to breastfeed them fully, using bottles. So, fully pumping from day 1.
The Difrax pump seems ideal to me because of the hands-free pumping. I want to buy 2 of them so I can pump both sides at the same time.
I've pumped before with a rental pump (Medela) and that went well back then.

Now I'm really curious if any of you ladies have experience with the Difrax pump?
I'm reading mixed experiences regarding suction power and that the milk tube might come loose easily, but those stories are from a few years ago and maybe they've improved since then?

    Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!

I don't have any experience with that pump myself. During my last pregnancy, I found out that in some cases you can get a discount on a pump through your health insurance. Always worth checking.

I do have experience with the Medela Swing. It's a really nice device, except for one thing. Somewhere there had to be a "flubber" to maintain the suction. If that "flubber" got wet and stuck, the milk would flow into the tubes and then into the pump.

    Good luck!

I had the Difrax pump temporarily and I thought it was a crap thing. Not enough suction for me. I got a Medela Pump in Style Advanced from another mom. That one worked much better. Maybe I'll buy a new pump for the next kid and then I'd go for the Medela Freestyle.

    Hi there,
Maybe a bit of a late reply, but since your due date is in May, it might still come in handy.
I bought the Difrax breast pump myself to pump hands-free and because the storage bottles and nipples can be directly connected to the pump. That’s a plus in terms of hygiene. (But I think Medela has that too?) In my opinion, the pump had enough suction power, but I also had an overabundant milk supply. Still, I wouldn’t recommend Difrax products because every bottle (with the 'wide' cap) leaked (from the top and/or bottom!!) or the nipple would just fall off during feeding!! I contacted Difrax about this, and they acknowledged the issue.
For my second child, I’m now going to try the Medela double pump.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

So this is the breast pump I'm considering buying. I don't have any experience with it yet. I'm curious if you still have your hands-free experiences to share? I currently have the Medela Swing, but it's quite large and hard to carry around. I'd love to hear about your experiences.
