Hi there! I gave birth to a beautiful daughter two months ago, but I’m dealing with a little problem. I’ve been getting splitting headaches more and more often, need to pee very frequently, and my period hasn’t come back yet. I’ve had sex twice, but we were careful, and my husband never came inside me. I wanted to get an IUD fitted, but that can only be done once my period has returned. I can’t take the combined pill because of breastfeeding, so I’ll have to start with the mini-pill. They also say you can’t get pregnant while breastfeeding, but I don’t really believe that. What do you all think about my symptoms? Should I be worried?

    Hey,

During breastfeeding you're indeed less fertile, but not infertile! So you can definitely get pregnant again...
Maybe do a test just to be sure.

    Good luck!

If you're breastfeeding, it can sometimes take up to a year before you get your period again. (It also depends on how long you breastfeed and varies from woman to woman.) But often, your periods are absent during the breastfeeding period.
Headaches maybe due to broken nights and getting tired faster?
And the frequent urination probably because you're drinking more due to breastfeeding?
If you're really worried, maybe do a test anyway, although it seems unlikely to me. They say that by breastfeeding you have no chance of pregnancy, but I think you should still be careful. (We did that too, didn't we?) You hear that you can also get pregnant during the breastfeeding period.
I suspect you don't need to worry too much. Lots of luck. And enjoy your daughter!

As far as I know, you can definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding. I wouldn't take any risks if you don't want to get pregnant again yet.

    hey
just because your man/friend doesn't want to come inside you doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. you can get pregnant from pre-cum too.
when i was pregnant with my first, i also asked if it was an idea to get an iud so i wouldn't get pregnant right away. the doctor told me then that you have to keep it in for 5 years. i don't know if that's a solution if you still want kids and don't want too big an age gap. anyway, i'll join in with the others' answers ;o)

    hey,
I gave birth last month and I'm also breastfeeding. I got a prescription for a pill that I have to take as long as I'm breastfeeding. You can definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding! That's what my gynecologist told me. I also have a lot of headaches, but I think it's due to fatigue.
    greetings

You can indeed get pregnant while breastfeeding, but it's also normal that you haven't had your period yet, so you don't have to be pregnant. Headaches and frequent urination can also be caused by hormonal changes (not necessarily pregnancy). Keep us updated?

    Hi there,

I’d say do a quick test just to be sure. When you’re almost certain you’re pregnant while breastfeeding, it’s usually when your baby refuses to take the breast anymore. It seems that if you get pregnant again while breastfeeding, the composition of your milk changes.

Good luck, and let us know what it turned out to be. Maybe you’re just getting migraines.

    Best, Ju

You have a very small chance of getting pregnant if you're exclusively breastfeeding, but it's not impossible. A hormonal IUD should normally be inserted during your period, but it can also be placed 6 weeks after giving birth, of course!

My aunt got pregnant in that way, so she didn’t know it was possible while breastfeeding. My cousins are only 10 months apart.

They're already in their 30s and they look exactly the same age.

You can get an IUD inserted from 6 weeks postpartum. They recommend doing it during a period, but it doesn't have to be! Also, it can stay in for a MAXIMUM of 5 years. Though you'd take it out again after 5 months anyway... And you're indeed not infertile during, say, breastfeeding. I wouldn't recommend skipping church services for that..
