First pregnancy, feeling really unsure.

Hi everyone!

My test was positive on Feb 15th. I was like, huh.. the test must be faulty, but the next day it was positive again. I was so happy! The realization only hit me a bit later... wow, there's a baby growing in my belly!

However, I've been quite anxious ever since. I don't have any nausea or vomiting. I'm just tired easily and have quite a bit of back pain. From my lower back all the way to the bottom of my left shoulder blade.

My first appointment with the midwife isn't until March 14th. Pff, waiting feels so long! I already emailed her to ask if this could be an ectopic pregnancy because I also had pain on my side. She told me that then I'd have to feel severe pain between my shoulder blades and have bleeding as well. Luckily, I don't have any bleeding (and hopefully it stays that way). Besides that, I also have period-like cramps in my belly, but she said that's actually a good sign because your uterus is growing.

Do any of you have these problems too? Mainly the pain in your back up to your shoulder blade? This is going to be our first child, and I notice I'm constantly thinking about it, it makes me so insecure.

Curious to hear your experiences.

Best,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I know that uncertain feeling; it stayed with me until I felt the little one move. Then I had constant reassurance that everything was okay in there. I also had stomach pain at the beginning. That went away later. I had back pain too, but I have a hollow back, so for me it's more of a posture issue that I need to watch out for. How funny that you're going to see the midwife on March 14th. I'll be taking my little one to the baby clinic for the 4-month check-up. Enjoy it, because time flies. Before you know it, you'll have the little one in your arms, and then time goes even faster.

Thanks for your sweet reply. It's probably also a bit of insecurity... which might last until after the ultrasound. I'd just really like the confirmation that everything is okay, and then March 14th really feels so far away. How nice that your little one is already here... good luck on the 14th too?

I totally relate to that insecurity. I also got my first positive test on Feb 15th. Unfortunately, I have to wait until March 22nd for my first ultrasound... pfff, that feels like forever haha.

I only have lower back pain and some cramps in my belly. Every little thing I feel makes me wonder if everything is okay. Unfortunately, I'm constantly preoccupied with it, so I can't really enjoy it yet. I hope I find some peace of mind by March 22nd.

So bad that I'm going to spell words wrong hahaha

Not really feeling nauseous yet. Just occasional waves.
It’s weird, but I feel like if the nausea comes for a bit now, it means the HCG is rising.

Hihi we're thinking along similar lines. It's nice to know there are more people who feel as unsure as I do. I just read that you're 24... I'm 26. Hope everything goes well for you. And if all goes well, we'll get to enjoy our little one around the same time!! :-)

Yeah, it’s a relief that there are more of us who feel the same uncertainty, haha. Yeah, I’m enjoying my last days as a 24-year-old, haha.
Fortunately, our age is actually in our favor too... staying positive, even though that’s pretty tough

Yes, exactly, it can be tricky sometimes... but as long as there's no bleeding or severe pain, I think everything will be fine. On to the first ultrasound!! :-)
  9. Flowermee #10

    Yeah, I think so too!
Wait, is your due date also October 25th? If my calculations are correct, mine is too!
  10. lovelife started this #11

Yeah, around that time it'll probably be somewhere... but I'll hear from the midwife what her calculation is! Have you told people in your circle yet? :-)
  11. Flowermee #12

No, I haven't told anyone yet (except my partner). We want to wait until after the first ultrasound! Have you told anyone already?
  12. lovelife started this #13

No, not to anyone yet... only my partner and I know. We might tell our parents next week. Because I was like, if something goes wrong... then I'll tell them anyway. As for the rest, we definitely want to wait until after the first ultrasound. It's pretty hard keeping such a big secret to myself, hihi. You really want to share your joy with others (at least I do, hihi).
  13. Flowermee #14

Yesss, it's so hard!! We really want to shout it from the rooftops.. but since we want to tell it in a fun way with the first ultrasound photos, we've decided to wait a bit longer. Hope we can hold out!
It's exciting that you're telling everyone next week. Are you going to do it in a special way or just tell people (which is also special haha)?

I bought a canvas shaped like a heart. I painted one side blue and the other pink, then decorated it with all sorts of baby-themed crafts. I even made a keychain with "I love opa" and "I love oma" on it. I think it turned out really cute. I also ordered an ultrasound photo frame via Prenatal. I want to give them that after the first ultrasound :-). Yesss, it's so exciting. We're not sure exactly when we'll tell them yet, but I think it'll be before March 14th hihi. I'm just so scared now that I've made all this stuff and something goes wrong... then you're stuck with your craft project. Oh well, I'll just try to stay positive!
  15. Flowermee #16

Aah, what a super fun way to do it! I also think about it like, "I'll just do it," and then worry that something might go wrong and I won't be able to use it.
But yeah, the chance is much greater that it'll go well!

Let's just assume that, okay!! :-)

Hi hi. I got a positive test on the 17th. So 2 days after you guys... It was my first time too. I have to say I'm fairly calm. I just trust that everything will be fine. And if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be.
I have my first ultrasound on March 21st... Still a long wait!
My parents, sisters, and mother-in-law already know. I really couldn't wait to tell them haha.
Do you also notice that your temperature is really high? I didn't even notice it myself, but my husband said I feel so warm. I read that this is also part of it. No idea how long it'll last... I totally get that you start Googling every little symptom!!
I'm also getting nauseous in waves and on one hand I hope this continues, but on the other hand you want to have all the symptoms so you feel "truly" pregnant, you know
Oh yeah, I'm 30 by the way.
It's nice that our due dates are so close. I'm looking at around October 27th now..
    Sleep well in advance!

By the way, you've been super creative with your profile picture, Lovelife! That's nice.
I edited the photo I use here as my profile pic with the "you're going to be a grandpa/grandma" text. It was already quite creative for me, haha. My parents live far away, so unfortunately, it had to be over the phone.

That's lovely, ladies! I already had a feeling this month that after the 4th attempt, it might have worked. Then, last Wednesday, one day before my expected period, I started bleeding. It wasn't heavy right away like it usually is, and it kept coming in small amounts. So, I decided to take a Kruidvat 2v5 test on Saturday morning, and I got a very faint line that was only clearly visible in daylight... I'll test again tomorrow morning. Did you guys have bleeding too? I'm not sure if I'm pregnant right now...
