Oh! So those stomach cramps did their job!! Good for you! I had those too, right at the bottom. Like the baby was poking me down there with his little finger. Funny, we’ve all got a boy running around already. Our oldest has already been struggling with a cold again. Woke up in a panic last night because of the coughing. And then there’s the baby who also drinks a lot at night. Luckily, the oldest goes to daycare during the day, because I wouldn’t be able to handle that too... Sleep well, ladies!
  2. Appelsien #62

Of course you can't take that on board, that's just completely normal... A newborn baby needs so much attention, and you yourself need plenty of rest, so I think it's totally normal that the eldest goes to daycare! It'll be the same here, just a pity. Normally I take him to daycare because my husband leaves for work at 5 am, but now he can only leave at 7 am since daycare doesn't open until then, so he'll be home later in the evening too. He'll have to get used to that...

I'm going to put his clothes on and take him to daycare now. Let's see if cycling goes a bit better today

    Many greetings

    Good morning everyone,
I’d like to let you know that I gave birth to my little girl Yuna on Tuesday, May 6th. She weighed 2kg 930 grams and measured 48 cm. On Monday morning at 9am, my waters broke, and I arrived at the hospital at 9:50. By 2am, there was barely any progress, and they started considering a C-section. But two hours later, I had opened up to 4 cm, and another hour and a half later, I was at 8 cm. At 6:30, I was allowed to start pushing, and 8 minutes later, our girl was here.
    Greetings from Stefkietje
  4. Marieke #64

Big congratulations, Stefkie, on your daughter! How are you doing? Wow, that was a long labor day indeed! You gave birth a few days earlier than your due date! Enjoy your little new family!
  5. Appelsien #65

Wow, gives me goosebumps! It did take a while, huh...
Seems like such a little girl (especially since ours is currently at 3.700)
Definitely hope you're doing well and that Yuna is a cloud-like baby! Once again, big congratulations!!!

    Who's next???
  6. Appelsien #66

    Hey there, hi everyone,
I'm still walking around with a super big belly, currently 38 weeks and 2 days...

Julie, wishing you lots of luck with the gynecologist, definitely let me know how it goes, I'm really curious...

And how are the brand new babies and moms doing???

Many greetings and have a nice day

    Congratulations on your daughter Stefkietje!
That was quite a marathon delivery, girl! Hopefully, you're doing okay now.

    Appelsien,
I'm seriously fed up here too. Sleeping so poorly, a belly that's (literally) splitting apart, no energy... I realize very well that it could still be June before I give birth. Because of the back pain and hard contractions, I'm so limited in what I can do. So I'm mostly lying on the couch and eating out of boredom. In 2 weeks' time, another 1 kg has been added. The scale already shows 15 kg here. It needs to stop! Grrrr! I know that after the birth I'll probably look back fondly on the whole pregnancy period, but right now it feels much heavier than the first time. I'm currently 37 weeks and 3 days. Just 6 hours to wait and then I can go to the prenatal physio. My OB is tonight. I'm going to try to get some sleep so the time passes faster. By the way, the whole paragraph above can be easily summarized with these 3 words: 'saw, saw, saw' :-)

    Good luck, ladies!

    Julie

    Hey Julie,

Your story sounds so familiar to me,
it's exactly the same here: back pain, stomach pain, hard contractions, pfffffffffffffffff
Hopefully there's good news later from the OB-GYN...
    maybe already 3 cm...
    greetings
  9. Julie #69

    Good morning!

So, I went to the OB-GYN again yesterday. The baby is doing really well. They took me off the monitor faster than usual because he was moving so vigorously that it didn't really help. According to the gynecologist, he feels like a fish in the (plenty of) amniotic water. He's currently estimated at 3866g and 56cm. Since he couldn't possibly have had such a growth spurt in such a short time, the gynecologist thinks he's more likely around 3.6kg and 54cm. I'm allowed to come back in 2 weeks. I still haven't had any contractions or dilation, so there's nothing else to do but wait...

I was awake for over 3 hours again last night. So I'm crawling back into bed. Does anyone here have tips for leg pain? I feel it radiating from my pelvis down the rest of my leg. I actually wake up from the pain and can't go back to sleep because I can't find a comfortable position. I almost got hit by a mom riding a bike with her child while I was taking my son to the receptionist. *sigh*

    Best,

    Julie

Yes Marieke, you're right. I'm really going to miss being pregnant because this is the last time for me here. I am also a bit worried because I'm already not in great physical shape. I'm currently on a heavier course of iron and vitamin supplements because my blood pressure is still on the low side and my iron deficiency isn't improving according to the latest blood test. For example, I have trouble reading a magazine because the letters seem to 'move'.

You're now going through the hardest period, right? Those first month(s) are really no joke. When everyone says 'enjoy your baby', it feels like you're not doing it right. Hopefully, you'll recover soon. Try to rest as much as you can. I was so exhausted with Mathis that I couldn't sleep in the end. I realize very well that this could be the case again this time. Hopefully, your baby will soon give you a bit more time between feedings, and you'll regain your strength soon. Good luck!

    Hi ladies,

Still the same story here. Today we're 38 weeks and 5 days. We're way too big, and I can't bend over or lean forward at all. If I do even a little bit too much during the day, I definitely get painful contractions with belly and back pain in the evening. Yesterday they came every four minutes, but don't think for a second that Mr. Baby wants to come out yet...

We're also taking iron and magnesium here. We're just gritting our teeth for a little while longer because we know the end is in sight, but I'd really prefer a natural birth rather than being induced.

Julie, get lots of rest so you can go into labor well-rested if it starts, especially since you're already feeling so sleepy... And if you're a strawberry lover, ask your partner to bring you one every day. Extra vitamins can't hurt

I also have low blood pressure, but the OB-GYN isn't doing anything about it; she's happy with it, preferring too low rather than too high. If you're bothered by it, just try to sleep a bit... Easy to say, right

Marieke, that's really unfortunate about that cold. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Also eat strawberries every day to get plenty of vitamins... Can't your son go to daycare if they have a fever? You're not completely alone with a sick son and a newborn, are you? That way you can't catch up on sleep during the day, obviously.

I hope you feel better soon, and that the sunshine this weekend recharges your batteries!

Big hugs to each of you,

    Hi ladies,
    How are you all doing?
Quick question: what sunscreen do you use for your little ones?

    Best,
    Appelsien
  13. Appelsien #73

Hi Marieke, (and good morning to everyone else too!)
Does Mories not suffer too much from the hot weather? I’ve been thinking about all those little babies; they already have such a hard time getting their bearings, and then it’s 30°C outside... unbelievable! Hopefully, it’s just sneezing, and you’re rinsing his nose a lot with saline...

The sunscreen problem has been resolved... We got the Avene 50+ sun spray for kids, recommended by the pediatrician... We had tried Mustela and Nivea before, but he reacted very allergically to them this weekend, so now we’re using Avene, since his bath products are also from there and he tolerates them... It cost 65 euros for two bottles and an after-sun lotion...

Went to the gynecologist again yesterday... I have a 4cm dilation, and the cervix is very soft and still 2cm long... So, unless he comes out at any moment (so to speak), I need to go in on Friday at 6:00 AM to have labor induced... So we’re very curious...
  14. Appelsien #74

One more thing I forgot to mention in my story: our oldest came home yesterday with chickenpox... Fortunately, it's not too bad overall, hopefully it stays that way...

@Julie, how are you doing? Just hang in there a little longer, girl, you're almost there!

    xx
  15. Julie #75

    Hi everyone!

We have 50+ sunscreen from Eucerin for sensitive skin here. Mathis has been struggling a lot with his allergies lately, and when you add that to the fact that he screams when I try to put on sunscreen, it's a lot. He says it stings.

Oh my, Orange... you can really start counting down now, right! I hope the little one still comes before Friday. Then you'll have let nature take its course. So exciting! Especially the part about the cervix is quite significant, right?

I'm sleeping really poorly right now. Sometimes I lie awake for hours and mostly sleep in blocks of about 2 hours. So much pain in my belly, back, and legs. I know the end is in sight, but I'm so tired that I'm losing the energy to give birth. In theory, I should give birth within 9 days, but I fear I'll go past my due date again. Waiting, waiting, waiting. I assume it's even harder for the new moms among us. Especially with the muggy weather these past days. Such a little one gets too hot too quickly, right? I've got my ankles back since today. The last few days I had those pig's trotters :-)

Good luck everyone! Hopefully no more hospitalizations!

    X Julie
  16. Appelsien #76

Hehe, those little ones, right? If they say no, it's a no, I don't think sunscreen is the issue...

Everything's still good here, but I mean, it hasn't started yet. Hopefully, I'll have our little boy in my arms tomorrow...

Julie, I completely understand what you're going through. It's exactly the same here, except I'm a week ahead of you. When do you need to go back to the gynecologist? I wish you all the very best!
  17. Julie #77

Just one more sleep until Appelsien, and it's here!!!! That must be such a weird feeling, right, knowing that tomorrow is the day.

I need to see my gynecologist again on Monday. This time I'll definitely tell her that I'm in a lot of pain in my pelvis and legs, and that I can't sleep well because of it. That's an understatement!!! I can't sleep in 2-hour blocks anymore. After that, I can't find a comfortable position and lie awake for loooooong. Theoretically, I'll give birth within 8 days. I really hope they'll induce me if the baby isn't here by 06/06. After that, there's another long weekend, and going 11 days past due is really quite a lot. I'd prefer for labor to start naturally, but my body just doesn't want to anymore :-(

Good luck, Appelsien! You're going to do great! I'm really curious to hear your birth story and about the name :-)

    X Julie

Amai, exciting Appelsien! I fear that sleep won't be too abundant this night... for Emiel too, induced due to pregnancy-induced hypertension... wanting to get everything in order the day before and barely getting any sleep at night! But: by the day after tomorrow, there's a very good chance you'll be lying there with a brand-new baby in your arms! You're going to do great! I'm already cheering for you all day (between changing diapers and feeding)
Yes Julie, just tell your gynecologist about that pelvis and those legs... who knows, maybe there's something you can do about it and then you'll sleep a bit better!!!! Every extra minute of sleep will be welcome, right.

Thumbs up, thumbs up, thumbs up! Appelsien, you've got this!!! (Julie of course too)
  19. Marieke Guest #79

Strange feeling... went for a walk with Mories this morning, knowing that Appelsien is in labor... thumbs up!

Hmmm... how about Appelsien and her baby mandarin? :-)
