Hi ladies!
Thanks so much for thinking of me!
Maxim was born on Friday at 11:06.
Everything went super smoothly.
I went in at 5 cm, my waters broke, and then things got intense.
After a check-up, they said I was at 6 cm, BUT 20 minutes later he was out!!!
He’s such a little sweetheart.
Everything’s fine with us for now, how are you all doing?

Congratulations Appelsien!!! Beautiful name for your second little one (we chose between Mathis, Maxim(e), Mathieu and Mattéo for our first boy)!
Did you have an epidural? What a quick delivery, haha! Super! Finally you can hold him in your arms! Enjoy it!

Hey ladies!
Went to check on baby number 2 again yesterday... The baby is supposed to weigh around 4.250kg and be 56cm long. The OB-GYN has been off for 5 days starting Thursday. We'll see each other again next Tuesday to discuss if/when I might be induced. The baby is doing really well. Since I have a lot of amniotic fluid, there's no reason to monitor more closely or induce sooner. I'm only 1cm dilated (which means nothing really). My cervix was already a bit softened though. So she asked if she could "strip" my membranes. For some moms, this kicks off labor. Since our little one is already full-term, she wanted to try it. It didn't feel good at all, and so far, no results. Just waiting, waiting, waiting,...
I was so nervous again this morning. Double-checked everything and got things ready again. A bit silly, knowing I might still have to wait 10 days. You've gotta have a bit of extra patience for an extra cute baby, right? :-)
How are the brand-new babies doing?

hey,
sorry for my last post, but it's just so busy, busy, busy...
Everything is going pretty well here. Maxim is very well-behaved and a completely different baby than his big brother. The birth went smoothly in the hospital, he latched on nicely, breastfed well, but because of his strong sucking, I got huge cracks (even though he was latching on well), so that hurts terribly. On top of that, he suddenly didn't want to suckle from the first nipple anymore after the vacuum extraction. It took 40 minutes before he finally latched on (he can be a seriously stubborn little guy). Unfortunately, I'm now feeding him with a nipple shield. I hope my cracks heal quickly so we can start breastfeeding naturally again, because I have to say that it seriously hurts, along with the let-down reflex...
Julie, it's so exciting, I think it won't be long anymore. And although I was so scared of having an induced labor, everything went super well. By the way, I had constant contractions when I came in that morning, you could see them nicely on the monitor, they just didn't do anything... So don't be scared, everything will be fine. Try to enjoy 'the calm' for a little longer. I know you have a lot of discomfort and pain, but every now and then I think for a second, when he was still in the belly, it was a bit calmer... despite the pain... And next week you'll also have your little round baby in your arms, I'm sure of it! -

Hey Appelsien!
Hope BV gets better soon. Must not be easy with such a nipple shield. How was the reaction of the big brother? Did you end up getting an epidural after all or was it too late for that?
I wake up a lot at night. Sometimes literally hours. Last night it was the same again. I think every night 'tonight is the night!'. Then I'm really disappointed in the morning. Our house and garden have never looked so good because my husband has been home for 3 days and is bored :-)
Two more sleeps and I see the gynecologist again. I hope we'll set a date then to induce me. Meanwhile, it's already June. I still have super lots of movement in my belly so I actually have no reason to worry. I just want to get started :-) I still don't sleep well although I can vaguely remember how deep I had to go when Mathis was a baby. That wasn't just exhaustion anymore... that was hell :-) No way back! Someday this little one will also squeak!
Good luck to everyone!

Oh, I find it so exciting, I keep thinking back to my last days when I think of you Julie. It's all so exciting... today going to the gynae, hopefully not too late???
Everything's fine here, big brother is super sweet to his little brother, when he comes home from daycare he quickly sits in the chair to pick up brother,
baby gets strokes on the cheek, gets kisses, it's really a big pleasure to see him busy.
Nathan is now pulling back more towards me than during the pregnancy, so it must have been due to that big belly and my limitations.
The thrush is going better but still with the nipple shield, I'm no longer uncomfortable from the pain but still feel it, once the raw meat is gone, just a few more days to hold out and then try again without nipple shields, hopefully it works... This morning there was some blood again so I'll have to be patient for a while, fear is, he's such a hard suckler... I'm glad that the thrush is working this time. This afternoon K&G is coming by, curious how much our little one will weigh...
Thanks by the way for the compliment MArieke, it feels so good... When I was at the pharmacy I hesitated a bit to buy powdered milk, in case it really didn't work with the pain, but once you have it at home...
A 2nd is indeed busier, especially when everyone is at home, but you know better what and when and how, and that's a bit more relaxing I think. Although I've shed the necessary tears, but let's just put it down to the hormones right!!!
You guys, if I don't hear from you anymore! Super good luck and I'm rooting for you
Ps: no epidural, it all happened all of a sudden VEEEEEEEEEERY FAST...

Will you finally get to hold your little one in your hands??? -

I wonder the same thing!
Hopefully yes! How are you and those damn nipple cracks doing? Here we have serious wallet issues because last night Mories decided to be awake from 4am to 8am... grrr! He's 5 weeks old, wow, time flies! -
Appelsien #89
I think so, otherwise we would have heard from her already, right
Pfff, keep quiet about that BV, I'm going gray from stress!!!
My nipples are still not okay, on the left side there's still blood when he latches, and on the right side it's still raw flesh. I hope they heal quickly because I want to breastfeed naturally again, BUT...
K&G visited and his weight is only 4kg050. He's two weeks old today and should have regained his birth weight. So we need to go to the doctor. I'm waiting for a call from the pediatrician today, hopefully she'll have reassuring words for me, otherwise it's just another case of breastfeeding failing. Although Maxim sleeps well, is happy, and doesn't cry constantly...
Yesterday K&G's weight was gone and mister suddenly wanted to eat constantly, so I started worrying if he's getting enough milk...
pfff me worrying, it's never going to go away.
Has your little Mories already granted you some sleep by now? I'm actually curious what your ventje looks like? I try to constantly picture you guys, it's quite funny with all the stories!
Try to enjoy the sunshine he, the coming days, hopefully our little ones don't suffer too much from that sudden heat!

Hi ladies! Sorry for the late reply. I'm currently in the hospital with a perfectly healthy baby. Arthur was born on 4/06 at 8:56 PM after a 13.5-hour labor. At 5310g and 58.5cm, he's a bundle of joy for us!!! My recovery is going a bit slowly (I gave birth naturally but with an epidural). We've broken the gynecologist's record :-) Warm regards and lots of success with your babies! -

Amai Julie, mega big congratulations! We also wavered about the name Arthur! Amai, Arthur is quite big! Almost 10cm bigger than Mories at birth! It'll probably be that recovery is difficult! Take it easy. Funny, all three boys
Did you get induced Julie? Enjoy your men now
Appelsien, have you heard from the pediatrician by now? I've learned not to stress myself out so much in Kinder en Gezin, because there's always something wrong with my kids: too small, too thin, too big head...and then I worry and in the end there's nothing wrong. Hopefully it's not the BV then! You're doing so well! Here's a good night with 4 hours between the BV behind us... Hopefully a good sign

Hi ladies,
A HUGE congrats Julie, wow, that's quite a feat, and I thought I had a heavy baby! I'm so glad everything is going well with you guys! Good luck...
Arthur was also on my list, but my husband didn't want that name... so you're quickly out of options, huh
Haven't heard from the pediatrician yet, my husband called Friday evening, and it was the secretary who answered, all the doctors had already left. We were told to definitely keep an eye on his weight, and by this evening he should have clearly gained weight, preferably 100 grams per day, which is definitely not the case, so we'll call again tomorrow and make an appointment for Wednesday... He does eat well though, don't know what's going on
Yes, I'm absolutely not a fan of K&G (childcare centers); I only let them come to the house for the first few times and then I don't go there anymore. Last time I had a really nice one and it was okay, but apparently this time it's less great. Thanks for giving me some encouragement. How long does Mories go between feeds during the day? Do you wake him up to feed?
Best regards -

Hi ladies!
It's pretty busy here with all the baby visits + we're also getting used to the family expansion. Mathis is a big big brother. He sometimes has trouble keeping his decibels under control when Arthur is sleeping, but otherwise it's super manageable!
By the way, yesterday I gave Arthur food at 4:30 PM and he asked for his next feed at 3 AM! That's already 7.5 hours in between! That gives me hope! During the day he leaves about 3 hours between feeds. He's really a calm little guy. So different from our first boy! Truly a relief! Arthur also has some mucus thanks to his big brother who keeps wanting to give him kisses! I hope he gets better soon because his grumbling makes eating and sleeping difficult sometimes. He also has some colic, but for now it's limited. Marieke, from when on did the colic for Mories really 'break through'? I'm afraid Arthur won't stay so calm and that those first 2 weeks give a skewed picture.
Despite the back pain, I feel much better already. I'm still a bit dizzy now and then. Also some headaches from the medication. As long as the baby is doing well and the sun is shining, I'm happy!
By the way, I went to K&G earlier. Our 'little one' already measures 60cm and is less than 3 weeks old haha! Too bad about the new size 56 clothes I bought...
Sometimes I get a sad feeling because this is our last baby. Even my husband dreams about a third. But we don't have the space for that + financially it's quite different from 2 kids. Many adults who come from a family of 3 children also advise against the number 3. Rationally speaking, we're sticking with 2 here, but my motherly instinct is simmering against it...
Greetings!
