Hi ladies, back home and everything is great with the baby. She's already weighing a good kilogram and is head-down. It was nice to see everything clearly again. Stefanie, your situation seems totally different from mine. Mine is going just like Appelsien's... I'm going in for another ultrasound on March 5th... When was your last visit?
Appelsien, I'm glad your little boy is feeling better. It's always a bit nerve-wracking waiting to see how things turn out! Take care, ladies!

    Hi,
I went to the ultrasound on February 23rd and to the gynecologist on the 25th. I only get 3 ultrasounds during my whole pregnancy, so that's why I'm going for extra ultrasounds outside of my hospital appointments just to see the baby again. These aren't medically necessary and you pay full price for them, but it's totally worth it—you get a DVD with 20 minutes of footage of your baby.
  3. Appelsien #23

Wow, that's so nice to hear that everything went well...
Which region are you from, Stefanie? Maybe that's why?
It must be nice to have a little DVD of your baby, we only have the ultrasounds. But it's probably very expensive too, or am I mistaken?
Thanks anyway for your sympathy, I was very worried and I'm so glad it was just the three-day fever!

    hey appelsien,
i'm from merchtem and i'm going to the hospital in jette for a check-up because i had fertility treatment there.
a 3d ultrasound costs 50 euros for 20 minutes and you get 3 ultrasounds on photo paper. around this time you can really see your baby well. i got that with my son from the gynecologist. normally they can do a 3d ultrasound at the hospital too, but it's just a little bit. you have to ask for it specifically. i'm glad your son is healed. my son had that too, the three-day fever, and it's quite strange, one moment fever and then not, and then at the end the spots.
  5. Appelsien #25

Good night ladies, yep, it's that time again, too much pelvic pain, from here to Tokyo, with the result, we can't sleep again, pfff frustrating...
Wow Stefanie, that's quite a distance from here, I'm from East Flanders... 50 euros isn't too bad though... Only my partner isn't keen on a 3D scan, so I'll wait until May before I can see our little one
It was indeed very strange, such a high fever and then he gets up, had 37.2, but his tummy full of spots, and around his face and on his face nothing, actually quite special to see! Strange these childhood diseases!
Quick question: do you still add a lot to the birth list, or do you already have everything?
    Greetings
  6. stefkietje started this #26

    Hey appelsien,
we don't make a birth list, I didn't do it for our son either.
We opened a bank account for him, that will be on the birth announcement.
    Greetings
  7. Appelsien #27

Yeah, apparently so, or maybe it varies from hospital to hospital.
We're also making a birth registry, but there's indeed not much more on it, just quite expensive things, we don't really need that much right now...
I think my belly is gigantic... there can still be a bit more room, but it's indeed much bigger than the first time, I've also gained 10 kg already I think that's quite a lot already, well, in a few months we'll lose a few kilos again...
I've been home since the pregnancy was confirmed, because of the 'infection risk', so I can't complain! I can totally understand that it's exhausting for you! Hopefully you can rest a bit on the weekends! Enjoy it!

    Hey Vicky!

Our second little one is also due on 05/30 according to the gynecologist.
    Good luck!
  9. Julie #29

    Hey ladies,

How are your babies doing? I went to the OB-GYN last week (at 25 weeks) and she told us that our second little one is already weighing 1030g and is 35cm long. Our first baby was already that big, but his little brother is definitely breaking records now. He'll be fine, right?
  10. Marieke #30

I also had a baby weighing 1kg at 25 weeks. It worried me too. The midwife reassured me that it’s usually due to growth spurts and weight gain spurts, and it’s possible that the baby will gain a bit less weight in the coming weeks compared to other babies... There was quite a bit of stress around that delivery too. My first birth was at 38 weeks and the baby weighed 3.4 kg. At 40 weeks, this one would have been over 4 kg. If this baby stays a bit longer... help... Don’t think too much about it! Oranje, how does that diet work? Do you have to prick yourself for sugar or not? Good luck to all! And just saw it’s week 29 today!
  11. Julie #31

Our little boy is now 26 months old and weighed 4.3kg at birth, measuring 55cm. That labor lasted about 16 hours, so now I just hope his little brother won't be even heavier. Hopefully it's indeed a growth spurt, Marieke. On the other hand, it's super that our little ones are growing so well, right!

    Appelsientje,
On 03/17 we're going back to the gynecologist. Our pregnancies seem quite similar. I also have a lot of pelvic and back pain. I had to stop working at 4.5 months. Gestational diabetes doesn't seem easy. If my husband buys cookies, they're devoured in no time :-)
Just like his brother, this baby is also super active in my belly. Although the placenta is attached to my abdominal wall this time. I always found those movements in my belly so wonderful! We're probably stopping at 2 kids, so I have to enjoy it while I can :-)

    Greetings

    Hi ladies,

Quick question: do you already know if you need to choose your baby's name on May 25th? Someone mentioned it to me yesterday since my due date is May 24th. I just sent an email to the municipality and I'm curious what their reply will be.

How's everything else going for you all?
    Best wishes

    Hey appelsien;
if you're in the hospital while you need to vote, you can either give a proxy to your husband or send him a note from the doctor, and then you don't have to vote.
  14. Julie #34

    Hey Appelsien,

Good question about voting! It's such a pity that we have to deal with that when we're about to give birth or have just become moms again.

I'm giving birth at A.Z. Klina in Brasschaat. I also gave birth to my first child there. I have to go to the physio. Osteopathy isn't allowed anymore because the back specialist doesn't want any manipulation on my back until we can get a scan of my lower back. So I'm taking it very easy. My little boy goes to the midwife 2 or 3 times a week. That way I can rest well.

Here too, a very active baby! At night I often wake up because of it. Earlier, I went to a store for a bit and the little one was kicking hard again. Then I'm so proud, right! As if the other customers in the store can see that there was kicking in my belly. Even though it's my second pregnancy, I just can't get enough of that life in my belly! By the way, I found it a bit hard after my first birth that the baby I had carried for almost 41 weeks was no longer in my belly. Suddenly you're 'alone' again :-)
  15. Appelsien #35

Oh, Brasschaat is quite a bit away from here!
I went to the physio for the first few weeks, but I really couldn't stand the pain; it kept getting worse. With the osteopath, it has improved. It doesn't look good for you either, though... So, can you get an ultrasound already after you've given birth? My little one also goes to daycare three days a week... And I notice that the days he's at home are becoming increasingly difficult!

It's quite funny reading your post; I also start smiling spontaneously when I feel the baby kick. Only last night, he seemed a bit quieter. Every time I had to get out of bed for my big piglet, the baby was also awake, kicking and stamping, which meant I didn't fall back asleep right away... He apparently found it very amusing
  16. Appelsien #36

    Hey everyone,

I just want to share my worries for a moment. Although they're not really worries, because I know it can't do any harm, but it's so exhausting.
This morning I had such stomach pain, and the rest of the day constant hard contractions. With my first, I had this too, but I still don't find it very pleasant. I've had a lot of hard contractions before, but today it's really extreme, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day...
  17. Marieke #37

Hi Orange, I'm glad I'm not the only one counting down... I'm having way more trouble with my big belly than I did with my first one. Hardening belly, kicking legs. Really exhausting. With my first, I worked until 2 weeks before the birth, and I wonder how I managed that back then. I've got 3 more weeks left, but I'm mostly just counting down rather than working properly. How is your baby doing otherwise? Here, they're nicely head-down. Hopefully, it stays that way! Hang in there!
  18. Appelsien #38

    Hi ladies,
it's nice to read that there are still people out there like me
Indeed, a big bravo to those who are still going to work. I've been home since October, and it would be incredibly difficult to go back to work now, I completely understand you, Marieke! My little one was also head-down at the previous visit to the OB-GYN, but every time I just sit upright now—at the table, desk, or chair—he starts wiggling a lot down there! Which makes it quite hard to just sit comfortably, of course... I wish you all the best and hope you can count on me as you count down to the time you'll be home and can sit 'at your own pace'.

Tomorrow I'm finally going to see the gynecologist, right in the afternoon, I'm really looking forward to it but will also feel more at ease. With our previous son, I already had a 3 cm dilation and even had to lie flat for a while until the 'critical' period was over, so maybe I'll have that now too. Contractions are indeed no reason to worry, but they can sometimes be really bad, sharp painful jabs, every two minutes a hard belly, ... We'll see tomorrow. I'm curious how much the baby will weigh this time, last visit it was 706 grams I've also gained much less weight due to that sugar and carbohydrate diet than in previous months, so we'll see!
  19. Marieke #39

Hey orange, how was it at the gynecologist and what did she say about the hard stomachs? Hopefully everything is ok... Wow, strong that you're sticking to that diet! I worked my last day this week. It'll feel good, because the past few nights were somewhat interrupted by a son with a sore throat. Greetings!
  20. Appelsien #40

    Hi Marieke,
Everything was perfect at the OB-GYN. I haven’t started dilating yet, but my cervix has only moved 3cm more, but she’s not worried. The baby itself weighs 1kg760 already Back on March 31st for the last ultrasound. After that, she won’t do ultrasounds anymore but will just listen to the heartbeat.

The sore throats are exactly cheap, last week our boy also had a sore throat and I’m shocked how much he suffered from it! The best wishes to you too!

Oh yeah, about the elections, if I’m in the hospital I get a note, if I’m giving birth on Sunday both my husband and I get a note but if I’ve already given birth and I’m home or I still need to give birth then I just have to go vote. We have to bring the note to the municipality afterwards...
