More fertile after a miscarriage?

Hi there,

I had a miscarriage on December 28, 2013. I would have been 6 weeks pregnant. The bleeding lasted until January 1, 2014. They checked everything at the hospital and said it was all fine, but they recommended waiting a month before trying to conceive again. My partner and I couldn't wait and wanted to go ahead right away. Now, I sometimes have stomach discomfort, little twinges in my side and groin, and during sex everything feels super sensitive and quite... uhmm, tight, hehe. Could I be pregnant again? Because he told me that you're extra fertile after a miscarriage?

Hey no, I didn't do that because the midwife or OB didn't say anything to me either, but I don't have any discomfort anywhere, just some cramps in my lower belly and stabbing pains in my back and groin. But I haven't heard anything else from them, so what's the best thing to do now? I think I've already ovulated.

I'd do a few days of ovulation tests and if those are negative, do a pregnancy test after a week or so Otherwise, go to the GP to get a blood test. They can see exactly if there's hCG in your blood and, if so, how much!

But how about you? Are you already having your period or not? I find it so hard because I really don't know what to think anymore, but I'm just going to do those ovulation tests for now, yeah.

I haven't had my period yet, so I've completely lost track of my cycle! I hope the gynecologist can tell on Thursday how far along I am in my cycle! If not, I'll just have to wait and see...

I always hear that it's better to wait a month because then they can more easily calculate when someone conceived. And yes, you're more fertile after a miscarriage. I waited for my period after the miscarriage and got pregnant right away. Luckily, I had to have my blood constantly checked until the hCG was gone, so with the positive test, I knew I was really pregnant and it wasn't a leftover from the miscarriage. I think that if the bleeding has stopped, you can assume the baby has left your body. Wishing you all the best, and I hope for positive tests for you both!

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I don't know what to think anymore. I've had sharp pains in my right side for the past 3 days, radiating to my groin and lower back on the right! I do have a really hard and bloated belly again! Sometimes feel nauseous but nothing like before my period, so I'm not sure, and it's been going on for so long because I can only test next week!

Let us know once you've taken the test, and best of luck with all the pains and twinges.

    Love, hartjee

    Hey girls,

I had my ovulation last Friday. Now it's two weeks of waiting and then my period... or not, of course! Hopefully
I'm curious how it's going for you too!! Hope it worked out for you!!

    Hey girls,

So today I was supposed to get my period normally, but nothing yet. Maybe it's because of the MK, although 2 days after the MK I didn't have any hCG hormone left, so I thought I should get my period today. I do have a pulling feeling in my belly and sometimes some light twinges in my right groin. I've had a tired feeling in my lower back for a week now, and all these itchy bumps on my back, and a dry, tight face with all these little bumps. I collected my urine and tried a test this afternoon, hoping it's positive! How are you all doing?

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I'd like to share my story. I'm 37 years old and have a 14-year-old daughter, but my husband and I really wanted another baby, so I got pregnant right away. I had two ultrasounds with the midwife and one with the gynecologist. The third ultrasound was heartbreaking—the baby's heart had stopped beating. That happened on March 11th. Now, on March 20th, I'm having a D&C (curettage) because I don't want to take the pills. I hope that once this is over, I can get pregnant again soon.

Oh Wendy, that's so sad.. You were probably happy that it happened so quickly..

And Samenta, was your test from January 27th positive?

    I'll hear from you,

Hey yeah, in January it wasn't a go. I had a positive test on March 3rd and went to the GP last week, and it turned out I'm 5 weeks pregnant. The baby is positioned high in my uterus, so I need to go back on March 24th for the heartbeat scan. That means I'll be 7 weeks, so I hope the heartbeat is there.

I'm actually Samenta, by the way.

Hi everyone, I've had some brown discharge today and just a little bit of blood when wiping, so it should come out today or tomorrow. I'm scheduled to have a D&C on Thursday, but it might not even be necessary anymore.
  15. Michellie #16

oh girl, that's so sad... How are you coping? How many weeks were you?
  16. wendy76 #17

Hi Michellie, I was 9 weeks and 3 days. Yes, it's really sad, but luckily I'm not the only one getting this kind of news. I'm glad it'll be over tomorrow; I'm getting a D&C. I lost some blood yesterday and also today, and I have bad stomach pain. How are you doing now?
  17. wendy76 #18

Hi Michellie, I was 9 weeks and 3 days really sad, but luckily I'm not the only one who has this unpleasant news. Tomorrow I'm getting a D&C, and since yesterday I've been losing some blood and having quite bad abdominal pain. How are you doing now?

Hi, I had an MC on August 26th (curated) and after 6 days I had sex again. Now I feel tired and sleepy. It seems like it might be a hit. I really want another baby.

Hi, I was supposed to be 8 weeks now too.
Had an ultrasound yesterday and it was just an empty gestational sac..
Now at the hospital for the intake for a D&C or something..
But I really want to get pregnant again as soon as possible.
