tomorrow at 39 weeks I'm being induced

Hi everyone.
I'm 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow and will be induced for my first baby.
I had an examination this morning and have 1 cm dilation. I'm getting a balloon inserted tomorrow, which should help soften the cervix even more. I hope it won't take until Wednesday to have our little girl, but I'm preparing myself for that possibility.
Has anyone here had a similar experience?
I'd love to hear about it. xx

    Hi hi,

I was induced exactly at 40 weeks due to high blood pressure. I also had a balloon inserted and had to stay overnight. In the morning they checked if the balloon had done its job, and sure enough, I had 2 to 3 cm dilation and could go to the delivery room. After 6 hours of contractions, my little girl was born and now she's already past 6 months. hehe

Good luck tomorrow! Before you know it, your little girl will be here

I was also induced due to pre-eclampsia. Initially, I was supposed to get a balloon, and I already had 1 cm dilation. But by the time they started the induction, I had 2 cm dilation. So I got some gel instead because the balloon wouldn't make sense anymore; they said it would just fall out. I gave birth the same day. Good luck!

Exciting. I got the balloon in this morning at 9:30. So now we wait and see what it does. I still had 1 cm dilation. I would have preferred 2 cm so they could break the waters. My uterus is already reacting quite a bit, really like a menstrual feeling. I hope it doesn't take too long before I can go to the ward. That's full right now. I'm lying completely alone in the delivery room. Bleh, nothing to do. My partner went to work at 10. Hopefully everything happens quickly now.

    Hi everyone!

We became proud parents of a daughter, Roosje, yesterday.
Phew, that was intense but definitely worth it.

    My story:
Monday 11-11 went to ZKH early in the morning, we were there at 8:15. First CTG and I got the balloon inserted at 10 o'clock. I only had 1 cm dilation at that time. After the balloon was inserted, I was hooked up to the CTG again and then went to the ward. In the evening at 8 pm, after a little walk, the balloon fell out after some bowel movement on the toilet. There was some blood and mucus discharge with it. Then back to the ward to report this. Got CTG again and they didn't do anything else. I found this very unpleasant because I didn't know if I had reached the 2 cm dilation required. I slept nicely that night with a sleeping pill. Tuesday morning at 7:30 went to the VK rooms to see if I had 2 cm. Phew, that was exciting. Fortunately, I had 2/3 cm. The waters were broken at 9 o'clock and waited an hour for natural contractions. At 10 o'clock, still got oxytocin via IV. At 11:15 I already had strong contractions coming every minute. I had passed the contraction storm. On the delivery ward, a bomb had exploded because everything was full and therefore super busy. Then they checked how much dilation I had now, this was 4/5 cm. Due to the contraction storm, I couldn't hold out anymore and the IV was turned off. My body took over. Nevertheless, they kept coming every minute. At 3:15 pm I couldn't anymore and asked if they could please check what the dilation was. Fortunately, it was already 9 cm. Phew, what a relief. At 4:30 I was allowed to push and at 5:30 she was here!!! And all this on my own strength and that for a first... So now we're going to cuddle our girl again.

    Good luck to everyone. xx
