Pill and getting pregnant

Dear readers.
On November 1, 2020, I had my last contraceptive injection. This one is "valid" for 12 weeks, so it wore off on January 1, 2021, at least, that's where the problem starts..
So far, I haven't had my period yet. (This is week 15 without the injection) which means I've been "shot-free" for almost 4 months now.
I've taken several pregnancy tests and they have all been negative so far.
Because I haven't had a period yet, and therefore no cycle, I started taking ovulation tests just to be sure. I've been at it for a little over a week now, and in the photo below you can see the results.
Now, I know that your period can take a long time to return after stopping the (shot) pill, and I also know that you can sometimes get a faint line on an ovulation test.
I've been in touch with my doctor (well, the assistant), but she told me to be patient and that I won't get a referral for now, because it hasn't been long enough since I stopped.

Do you have any tips/experiences on how this went for you or how you would handle it?

    @alishav how long did you get the birth control pill in total? I had the birth control pill once but it took 9 months for my cycle to return to normal. I did get my period but only after 5/6 weeks

    I had the contraceptive pill for about 1.5 years. Got injected 5 or 6 times.

    @alishav So it's not that long either You can't get anything to induce your period because it's been more than 3 months since you stopped

    No, indeed not very long but still a while.. I called my GP and the assistant said there's "no medication available to induce my period", the internet claims otherwise, but unfortunately it's only available by prescription..

    @alishav you really do read on forums that there is a way to induce your period, but indeed only with a prescription they also said that when they're going to do something for you

    They only want to take action if I haven't gotten my period after 1 year. Personally, I think that's a long time, but I understand that your body needs time to get everything back on track.

    @alishav I get that you need to stop the pill, but being completely not on your period is quite different from being irregular

    @alishav
    How are you doing now?
    Have you gotten your period yet.
    I had my last shot in January and it's almost October now and still haven't gotten my period.
    I was on the contraceptive shot for 8 years.

    I got my period for the first time in June. It lasted 2 days and I only had brown discharge. The next month, after 26 days, I got my period again and stayed on my period for 26 days (July).
    On my GP's advice, I started using one pack of the pill to regulate my hormone levels. They suspect that my uterine lining was very thin and my estrogen level was very low.
    After 26 days, I got my period again, and today (September 29) I'm 5 days late. No positive pregnancy test yet, by the way.

    My GP told me it doesn't matter how long you've been on the pill. But every body is different, and it kicks into gear faster for some than for others.
    How are you feeling otherwise?

    @Alishav
    I had my last contraceptive pill in early January, so it should have worn off by April, meaning it’s been about 6 months for me now.
    You read a lot online that it can take a while, so I was kind of expecting that, and I’m getting older too, so maybe that’s playing a role as well.
    I do have some real symptoms like sore breasts, lots of stomach pain, my hormones are shooting up haha.
    In July, I had brown discharge for one day, and then nothing after that.
    Nice to hear that things are already getting going for you despite your long period of amenorrhea.

    You're right, I was also searching online a lot for stories from others. With some, it started right after they stopped, while with others it took months.
    You can always call your GP for advice. They told me that if it hadn't started after a year, I could have further tests done.
    The only thing you can do right now is wait and take good care of your body.
    It's a good sign that you're having "symptoms," it means your body is working on getting those hormones out (clearing the pill).

    I hope the post-pill phase passes quickly and that you get pregnant soon!

    @alishav
    I hope you get a positive test in your hands soon.

    @alishav
    How are you doing now?
    Have you gotten your normal cycle back yet?
    It’s been a year for me since the last birth control pill, but unfortunately, I still haven’t had my period. On Friday, January 14th, I have an appointment with the gynecologist. Hopefully, I’ll hear more then.

    Hey @vriesje86

    So far, no normal cycle for me yet I've had my period a few times and even had a positive ovulation test a couple of times, but unfortunately, I'm not pregnant yet.
    It's been a year already, wow.. I'm curious if the gynecologist will find anything or if they'll make you wait a while longer.. I went to the gynecologist on Dec 24, 2021. They did an internal ultrasound and nothing "weird" was visible. Everything looked good. By chance, an egg could pop at any moment, because one egg was 3 times as big as the other eggs visible ;p
    Then, on the advice of the gynecologist, I had to get my blood drawn on day 2 of my cycle, but unfortunately, I couldn't go because of a COVID infection.
    Last month, a cycle of 17 days (or rather, I got my period again after 11 days )
    So, I had my blood drawn almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the results. I'll call tomorrow to see how things are.. the gynecologist wanted to wait for the blood test results and wanted to wait another 6 months (now 4.5 months) anyway, because it could still be related to "coming off the mini-pill".
    I keep track with an app and my cycles now vary by 8 months between 17 days and 42 days..
    By chance, I just got another positive ovulation test, so who knows ^^(so this month a cycle of about 24 days..?)

    I wish you all the best and hope there will be clarity for you soon too!

    Sorry for my late reply! I hadn't been on the forum for a while.

    The contraceptive shot lasted 9 months for me before coming off. The contraceptive shot is really the most common type of contraception I hope you get clarity soon

    Thanks for your reply to my topic!
    I'm also really curious how long it'll take for me. The most important thing right now is that I know everything's okay on the inside, because I'm really scared that something else is going on besides just the expulsion of the contraceptive pill
  18. Nijntje #19

    Let us know tomorrow? After 2 weeks, they should have it by now, I assume? What did you get tested for, if I may ask? And is there a reason why you think there’s more going on than just the detox?

    I would!
