Your body is changing, and your intestines are shifting to make room for the uterus. It's normal to have abdominal pain. I had that too; I'm 5 weeks pregnant now. -

Rest up! You can already call them now; they usually schedule the first appointment around 8 weeks. Congratulations, what an exciting time! -

Thanks for your reply, Linda!
I'll give them a call tomorrow morning.
It's definitely a stressful time. -

I'm 4 to 5 weeks pregnant and feeling really unsure. One moment I'm enjoying it, and the next I'm having stomach cramps and feeling very anxious. Any tips? -

You can't really do much more than wait. The first period is just so exciting! And I'm now 19 weeks and still find every check-up with the midwife quite nerve-wracking! But that uncertainty does get less. You start recognizing the discomforts and little pains better and better. Try to trust your body and remember that it's better for your baby if you're relaxed rather than stressed. And besides, you have little influence. Good luck! And congratulations by the way! -

Thanks Linda..
I have my first ultrasound on October 5th, but pff, it feels like it takes forever.
My belly is already getting bigger, probably due to my intestines. I'm also having trouble going to the bathroom and my breasts are sore.. ouch -

Sounds like a good pregnancy!

After 3 positive tests, I'm now 5 weeks pregnant according to the calculation...
I have so much disbelief that I'm doubting everything.
Dull lower belly pain (period-like)

It could very well be your uterus growing. You only need to worry if you actually get cramps.
Congratulations!! -

Hi ladies! I'm four weeks and three days pregnant now. After two miscarriages, I'm so scared of having another one. I do have some discomfort and twinges in my belly, but I'm not too worried about that. I just don't dare to call the midwife, afraid that I'll have to call again in a few days to say that I'm bleeding again. Am I overreacting? -

Hi everyone,
I'm now in my 5th week. On Sunday night, I had to rush to the urgent care center because I suddenly got these cramps and stabbing pains in my belly, along with nausea (from the pain) and hot/cold flashes. The doctor couldn't quite figure out what it was; he did a pregnancy test, which came back clearly positive, so that explained the pain... quite a moment in a rather unexpected place. I couldn't sleep at all that night... happiness, pain, emotions...
I also slept poorly last night. I kept waking up with severe pain, so I took paracetamol, which the doctor said was fine for the pain. I want to take as little medication as possible because the little "pup" is getting some of it too...
On Monday, I went to the doctor just to be safe. She confirmed that this is normal and that I should listen to my body. It didn't look like an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage... I've always had sensitive intestines and also have coeliac disease (gluten allergy). This morning, I called in sick to work. I'm off until Thursday, but on Friday I have a mandatory training day from 9:30 to 6:00. I shouldn't think about it yet... The line is for Judith hmm, it's unpleasant; I sometimes feel nauseous from it and have no appetite... I'm not really enjoying it yet, and I'm not floating on a cloud either... Does anyone else relate to this? Greetings, Judith -

Congratulations! I don’t recognize that pain. But that pink cloud only came for me after 20 weeks. Until then, I mostly found it exciting and overwhelming! -

Hi ladies,
My girlfriend is 5 weeks pregnant now... and she got really mad at me because I did "her" "chores" – it didn't make any sense, but I guess it's the hormones haha. I just let it slide and agreed with her. But she got so upset that later she had severe stomach cramps, and she no longer had breast tenderness. I'm really worried something serious might be wrong... Can you please help me? -
Linda #74
Sounds like hormones for sure!
I've also had moments where I got worked up with my partner or stressed about other things, which led to stomach pain. Later in pregnancy, that's more like a 'tight belly'. If the pain persists or if she has bleeding, I'd call the midwife or the GP just in case. Otherwise, it'll probably be fine. Relaxing helps! -

All the tensions and feelings are so relatable! I'm 6.5 weeks pregnant now and having my first ultrasound next week. Super exciting, but I'm finding it hard to stay positive. I had an early miscarriage 1.5 years ago and got pregnant this time through ICSI.
Even though I often have bouts of nausea and sore nipples, the fear keeps creeping up.
All the positive stories do me good.

Hi everyone.
I'm now 6+1 weeks pregnant.
And I have severe cramps at least 3 times a day, where I definitely need to lie down on my bed and then I roll and toss around for about 3-5 minutes until it goes away again. I've already been to the doctor and had an ultrasound at 5 weeks, and everything looked fine. But now I'm wondering when these cramps will go away...
Greetings. -

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to be on this forum. I'm 5 weeks pregnant and haven't told anyone yet, so I have no one to turn to with my worries. I keep having this nagging feeling in my lower belly, like I'm about to get my period. It's all so new and uncertain—I really don't want to have a miscarriage. Luckily, your replies show that it's normal. I think I'll only really start enjoying it after the first trimester.
Funny thing is, my GP said that this feeling of uncertainty and worrying is the beginning of motherhood. She said those worries about your child will always be there. Phew, it takes some getting used to. -

Hi,
I'm between 3 and 4 weeks pregnant with my first. I'm a bit worried because I sometimes get a dull pain in my right side that radiates to my back. I don't have any nausea or headaches, but I do get occasional sharp twinges in my lower abdomen (both left and right).
Is this normal, or should I see a doctor about it?
Thanks!
Best, -

Hey ladies,
Those little aches are normal, and it'll probably only get worse, I can tell you that much
You usually don't start feeling nauseous until around week 6. I'm now pregnant with my second. I had both stomach pain and lower back pain at the beginning with both pregnancies. The pain does go away, and then another type of ache takes its place, like round ligament pain.
Just try to enjoy it and not worry too much. -

I'm joining Nancy! I'm now 39 weeks pregnant and following this thread because at 5 weeks pregnant I also came here with aching pain in my belly. It turned out to be round ligament pain, and that pretty much lasted throughout the whole pregnancy. And if it wasn't that, it was a muscle that was overstrained or a rib that got kicked from the inside (I now literally have a bruised rib because the baby keeps pressing its bottom against the same spot!).
Try to have faith, so much is happening in your body right now! And worrying doesn't do any good... If it really doesn't work out, call your midwife, they know the most about it!
