Hi, I've experienced this several times now and I'm in the middle of it again. This time, it's just a matter of waiting, but the previous times it didn't work out and ended in a miscarriage.

    Why do you ask?

Pien, did I miss that you're pregnant?!

I hear a lot about how the placenta can detach from the uterus, causing bleeding, but you can still stay pregnant and it doesn't necessarily lead to a miscarriage... but that's all I hear, nothing more...
I even have symptoms now like feeling under the weather and lacking fluids, and I've been in the hospital since Thursday, but I don't have any issues. Yet they keep asking if I'm losing blood every day, and that's not the case for me...

I hope what I told you at the beginning helps you a bit...

Had a faint positive test, but started spotting the same day. It's almost over now, and I went to the doctor this morning. He wants me to take another test after the spotting just to be sure, because you can still have a so-called period, but I don't really think that's the case. So if the test is negative, I'll get a referral to the gynecologist for further investigation.

And when can you test? Are you seeing bright red blood now?

Red for the past three days, and today it seems to be stopping. I think I'll do a test the day after tomorrow.

    Would you like that, girl!!!

Thank you, I wish the same for myself! Hihi
And of course to everyone else too, I wish you all the same, well almost as much :-p

The day after tomorrow, so exciting! Wasn't it a lot more than usual these past three days? Less than your period?

I believe the placenta isn't actively working for your baby for the first 10 to 12 weeks. You usually see a gestational sac at 8 weeks, not a placenta yet. It only develops more in a later stage, and your baby gets food and oxygen through the placenta. That's what I was told, so I don't know if the bleeding is related to the placenta detaching.

It could be harmful in a later stage, though, as it's the source of food and oxygen for your baby. Without oxygen, no one can survive, not even your baby.

Maybe they're asking you to make sure everything is still okay. Bleeding is a sign that something might be wrong.

That's right about the placenta. I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks, and the midwife didn't see a placenta yet either. She said there was a yolk sac that provided the fetus with oxygen and nutrients. She explained that the placenta would form later and take over from there.

Oh yeah, the name was "dooierzakje." Hihi, I didn't think of that..
  13. madelene #14

Hi hi, I had remembered that at the midwife's

The placenta is already developing, which is why it's important to get the right nutrients. My studies also focus a lot on this development.

By the way, I'm not bleeding anymore, so I'll take a test tomorrow, but I'm expecting a negative result.

Right, but it doesn't work like that yet like it will later in pregnancy, that's what I've been told. That only starts around week 12. And bleeding at 4 weeks could also still be implantation bleeding. I had that with my first pregnancy.

Still nervous, Pien? Or are you convinced it's nothing? It's still weird that you keep getting positive tests..
  16. madelene #17

Yeah, I think that makes sense. You should make sure you're eating the right food right from the start, which is separate from the placenta.
We already eat fresh and healthy at home,
but especially now during my pregnancy, I make sure to get extra healthy food.
And definitely from the moment I got my positive test.

If you test positive, it could mean that because hcg is still present in your blood after a miscarriage. I had a miscarriage myself and tested positive a few days after bleeding started, even though the baby was definitely lost. This was confirmed with an ultrasound. P.S. After a week, I tested negative again.
So I would rather ask for an ultrasound than take another test. If this one is positive, you might be happy later on, while you may have had a miscarriage.

Anonymous, I'm not sure if you're talking to me right now, but if so, here's my response.
What you're saying is true. I've unfortunately experienced this myself before. My mc came on May 8th, and by June 12th, my hcg was still at five. My bleeding was going on for a really long time, which wasn't fun at all.

Well, when it comes to bleeding, there can be many causes, which I know by now.

Dina, you started this topic, are you still around?

Yes, I told you! Why exactly do you have to do that test?
