Crying on the playground

appelsienGuest ·
Our son has been going to school since Monday.
In the mornings, when dropping him off, on the playground, and when picking him up, he always cries buckets.
But in class, he’s doing fine.
I know I need to give it time, but does anyone have tips to make it easier?
Thanks!

A lot of kids struggle with that, luckily my two kids didn’t have that issue.
A friend of mine cried for a whole year when she dropped off her son, but as soon as mom was out of sight, the tears stopped.

Hi Orange, it's hard when you see your little one and feel sad about leaving. Maybe it's an idea to walk him all the way to the classroom at the schoolyard; that can help with getting used to it.

And maybe it's a good idea to talk more with him about school, to find out how much fun he's having. Reading books together about kindergarteners going to school for the first time might also help him feel better. Don't underestimate it; it's quite a big transition suddenly starting primary school.

    Kind regards, Madelene
