As far as I know, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve had the injection. Just keep in mind that it can take a long time.

I myself stopped getting the injection last July. I had my last shot in April 2013, and it was supposed to have worn off by July 2013. I’ve been tracking my temperature from the start. I got my first period again in August 2014, then another one in September, and I’m on my period again now, so it seems like my cycle is regular now. The only downside is that I haven’t had an ovulation yet It could take another year, so I’m looking at at least 9 more months... I hope to get pregnant sooner, but I’m preparing myself for the possibility that it could still take 9 months. One thing I do know is that I’ll never touch that damn injection again. I was 17 when I started, and it would’ve been nice if my GP had told me it could take this long to become fertile again, etc. At 17, you’re not really thinking about kids, so I think they shouldn’t be giving the injection to 17-year-old girls! But well, there’s no point in dwelling on that now.

I hope yours wears off quickly!

I was on the birth control pill for two years, stopped in August 2012, and immediately had a Mirena IUD inserted. I haven't had a period since 2010... Last Thursday, they removed the Mirena, and I've had bleeding since Friday/Saturday/Sunday (I hope this is my period). I know that after stopping the pill, it can take 1 to 3 years to become fertile again. I hope that after two years with the Mirena, the pill is out of my system and we get pregnant quickly.

SNOOPIE, I think I feel exactly the same as you! I'm also hearing all these creepy stories... The birth control pill needs much clearer information given before the first injection, and it should be made clear that 'detoxing' can really take ridiculously long!

    Greetings,
    Els.

Hi, I had the contraceptive implant for 4 years. I stopped using it a while back—that was in August 2014. Last night (03-02-15) I noticed brown mucus on my underwear, and last night and today I’ve had bleeding. So I can say my period has returned.
