Fewer weeks pregnant than I thought!!??

Hi,

I'm a bit confused! I'm pregnant! Which I'm actually really happy about!! My last period started on June 14th. Using online calculators, I figured out that I'm now in my 9th week. When I made the appointment with the midwife practice, they told me that at the time of booking, I was in my seventh week. Two weeks have passed since then. I had my first ultrasound two days ago. It showed that the embryo was too small for 9 weeks and that I'm exactly 6 weeks along, with no heartbeat yet! Where did those 3 weeks go? The embryo's length does match the number of weeks and is also proportional to the gestational sac. But the reaction of the midwife and her intern made me think! It seemed like something they had never experienced before. I've done a lot of Googling since then and read quite a bit about late ovulation and late implantation! But I haven't found any similar stories. Could it be that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the pregnancy? I really don't know! I've become so unsure because of this.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Don't be so unsure. It could indeed be a late implantation. With all three kids, I was less far along than they thought, and that's how you sometimes hear 2 or 3 weeks less. Don't worry too much. I find it really tough for you that they reacted like that because it does make you feel insecure, but it absolutely doesn't have to.

    Hey Jeamy,

I had this too. It wasn't 3 weeks, but a week earlier than I thought. I didn't understand it at first and asked my OB whether my baby might have some early growth restriction or something... But she told me it was completely normal and that it could indeed be a late ovulation. I'm going for the second ultrasound soon and then I'll see if everything is okay...

But I wouldn't worry too much. Sometimes you just know it really early

    Greetings!
