irregular and long cycle

Hi everyone,
I'm Eliza, 26 years old.
My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years and have wanted kids for a long time, but only a few months ago we felt we were in a good financial position, we have a nice place to live, and well, I just didn't want to wait any longer...
Stopped the pill 4 months ago. To my relief, my first 'normal' cycle lasted 28 days. I was a bit scared back then that long-term pill use might have messed up my hormones a bit. The second cycle was 29 days.

The third cycle was 33 days. Of course, at day 30 I already thought I was pregnant, and tested negative, of course.

Currently on my 4th cycle. I'm now on day 39, tested negative this morning, and I don't feel my period coming yet.

I know that trying for 4 months is very quick, and that's not really what this is about for me. I'm worried that my cycle seems to be getting longer and longer... does this affect fertility?
Should I go to a doctor about this? And if so, GP or gynecologist?
Or should I wait a few more months?

With an irregular cycle, it's also hard to estimate when ovulation is. I've also read that with cycles longer than 40 days, there usually isn't any ovulation, and thus no chance of pregnancy. This information scares me a bit.

Anyone here with experience with this?

I had stopped taking the pill for over a year after using it for 9 years before we decided to really try for a baby, so my body could get back on track. The first 4 months my cycle seemed fine, but then it got longer and longer, until it was almost 7 weeks. I kept track with an app: Flo, which gave me insight. When we decided to really try last July, I had expected it might take a while to get pregnant, but I was pregnant right away. I had prepared myself for another cycle of about 6-7 weeks, but it turned out to be shorter.
In short, nothing is impossible, but every body is different. If you think something isn't right and want reassurance, you can always make an appointment to talk about it or get checked. I just don't know if they're already taking action or if they want to wait a bit first, since it's still quite early? Trust your instincts.

How exciting that you've chosen to stop the pill!
My experience has been positive. I took the pill myself for 8 years and I'm now in my 3rd month of pregnancy. Also, my cycles got a bit longer each month. So stay positive. It's always just about being lucky.
If you're doubting whether everything is okay, you can always check with your GP.
Have you gotten your period this month?
