When and how often to have sex

I'm Linda, 29 years old, now in round 2 for my first baby.
When do you have sex to get pregnant?

I stopped the pill 3 months ago.
My cycles were 31 and 36 days.

I bought ovulation tests from Clearblue this month.

I'm trying to have sex every other day this month and a few days after the ovulation test is positive.

Is this the best way or do you have any tips?

Sounds good! Just do what you feel like doing and try not to stress if you don't feel like it sometimes. Keep in mind that it might take a while, and then having sex at specific days and times might not be fun anymore. If it doesn't work out, you can always take a more targeted approach

I think it's fine. You can also track your temperature every morning at the same time. Keep an eye on your fertile mucus. This way, you'll get to know your body better.
It's not necessary to have sex so often throughout your whole cycle. Of course you can, but keep it fun. On average, you're only fertile for 5 days a month.
My tip: don't make it too much of a big deal, stress isn't good. Enjoy exercising, eating/ living healthily. You're only in the second round. Assume it will take a year. Then it usually turns out to be okay!

    Okay, thanks for the replies
Yeah, I also assume it takes an average of a year, but it's harder than I thought..

Talking is easier, you know. It's tough too! Wishing you all the best!

I just had sex whenever I felt like it and didn’t use ovulation tests. I think you get too focused on getting pregnant that way. But that’s just my view, of course.

First time I got pregnant I was still on the pill (forgot to take it sometimes) and we just did it for fun
With the second pregnancy I got pregnant right after stopping the pill. We weren't trying at all, unfortunately it ended up as a little star after 11.5 weeks
After that I was all hormonal but really focused on it, and got pregnant after 4 months. This is my current pregnancy, and we did have targeted sex around ovulation
But I have to say, my husband and I do it more often than less, so that helps. Around ovulation sometimes twice a day haha, other times I have no idea what we did I'd try to do it every day or every other day around ovulation if possible. If you're regular (28-day cycle) then maybe be a bit more active from day 10-18? But keep it fun and not obligatory! I didn't tell my husband in advance when I ovulated, otherwise it feels so much like a chore. It can happen quickly, it can also take a while. It's like luck, I can imagine it feels like a long time for you. Those 4 months also felt long to me, looking back it wasn't that bad. Hopefully it's granted to you soon

What I also think is good, taking multivitamins! I myself took those capsules from Etos for trying to conceive, and had read a lot of positive things about them. I think it's good for your body to fill any potential deficiencies this way for a healthy pregnancy

    Hi!
I stopped the pill in January.
We were a bit cautious until mid-February because we weren't really ready to "go for it" yet.
My first cycle was 26 days, the second 35 days.
My last period was on March 8th, and from then on we had sex every other day or every two days (sometimes every three days because if you're not in the mood, you can't force it). I'm now about 8 weeks pregnant, so I got lucky that it happened so quickly. I also didn't know when my ovulation was because my cycles weren't regular yet.
I didn't use an ovulation test myself because I thought it was a bit too much too soon. I wanted to have sex because we felt like it, not because "it had to happen" or something.
I read somewhere that it helps if the woman orgasms, because the contractions draw the sperm deeper into the uterus.
Good luck and especially have lots of fun!

    Thanks!

Yeah, I've already stopped having sex every other day, haha.
Of course we won't force it if we're not in the mood, but we do it regularly.
And I've been taking Davitamon multivitamins for pregnant women for 2 months now.
We're just waiting "patiently". I shouldn't complain so much, we just started..

Haha Linda, once you've made your choice, you want it right away! I felt the same way I was glad I had the OPK tests. That way I knew which days I should take it a bit easier and which days I could go for it. And luckily so, because my ovulation didn't happen until around day 20, and I got my period around day 30. With a 14-day luteal phase, I'd been completely off. I only had 9 days, and got my period on the 10th day after ovulation. But the risk is that you might get too obsessed with it. Having to do a test every time and keeping an eye on everything in an app isn't exactly taking it easy. It's all about where you find your peace. For us, it was a bit more emotional because we had just lost our little boy. Then you approach things a little differently, I think.

I was actually pregnant again 7 months after giving birth to our son. (After 3 months, we really started trying again.) I was already pregnant in the second round with my son, after 10 years of pill use. So I really can't complain about getting pregnant! But those 5 months felt like forever.

    Im,
That's so sad that you lost your little boy..
That must have been really hard, I can't even imagine.

But I find those ovulation tests mainly useful because then I can roughly calculate when my period is due. Otherwise, I really have no idea when I'd be overdue. (I've only been off the pill for 3 months and I don't know yet if my cycle is regular/stays regular.)

Thank you all. And yes, the baby is here now. Unfortunately, I need to put the brakes on for now; I'm still in the postpartum period and my body is a bit of a mess. I realize I really need to focus on recovering and the little one right now. Later, maybe in a few weeks, we'll see how things go. Taking it easy for now.
