Losing your mother

Hello!
I'm Inge and currently 22 years old. I've been off the pill for 8 months now, and constantly being told that I'm not pregnant yet makes me so scared, especially because of my huge desire for children. My partner and I don't have sex that often since we have bad shifts at work with split schedules and so on. Now 8 months and still nothing. My partner has also had 3 surgeries for varicose veins ;( and I'm very irregular. Currently around a 35-day cycle. But it can vary a lot. I can't find my ovulation either, not with temperatures because it goes from very high to very low temperatures. Now ... I have raw, thread-like, mucus-like discharge on day 32 today, sorry for the details. But on the internet it says that this could indicate ovulation now still ???? I'm completely at my wit's end. What do you think and how is it going for you all. Friendly greetings Inge! Hopefully a response would really help.

    Hey,
In the end, it's just a waiting game.
Maybe after a year, you could pay a visit to a gynecologist? ????
    Don't lose heart, Inge!

Definitely don't lose heart! If you've been tracking your temperature for a few months (and followed the rules!), I'd take that to the doctor. Then you have proof.
Have you ever used ovulation tests? I found them much clearer than tracking temperature or discharge. After sex, I could hardly tell the mucus apart. And temperature tracking is super sensitive. If you've slept in a bit longer, are sick, or have been awake a lot, it often doesn't match up anymore. The month I got pregnant, my temperature stayed very low, so I understood nothing. The ovulation tests were spot on. I also had ovulation pain and a higher temperature the day after the positive ovulation test, so they worked well. Good luck!

Hi, I'll try using ovulation tests.
    Thanks for the tip!

If you want to try cheaper ones, I had mine from 2-besure and then the sensitive ones (they have sensitive and extra sensitive) otherwise they might be too sensitive and then you always get a faint line. I also always had a faint line with the sensitive ones but they are only positive if they are very dark. On my profile they are if you want to see what they look like hopelijk gives some clarity! The ones from action are also used a lot but I only have experience with those from 2besure.

Totally understandable, Inge. Periods do hurt every time. Don't lose hope!
I also find the 2besure ovulation tests clear and so cheap that you can easily test more often if you're unsure. Combined with 2 months of temperature tracking, it showed me very clearly when my egg was released.
The egg-white-like stretchy mucus is often also a sign of your fertile period. I had a real clump of that mucus about 4/5 days before my ovulation, which for me was a clear start signal for the fertile window. But despite that, we still haven't succeeded after 2 years, without any clear reason. We did the first 9 months and 11 short cycles.

    Me and Betty,
Thank you so much for the tips.
I had already told family and friends that I had stopped the pill. I probably shouldn't have done that because now the pressure is even greater. People who got pregnant after 2 rounds don't really understand that some take longer (sigh), but it's good to hear that I'm not the only one and that this doesn't necessarily have to be negative because I was really scared it wouldn't work out. Thanks so much for the tips & Betty, I hope the best for you too!!! Greetings

That’s definitely true, but if you share with them that you’re trying for a baby, you can also let them know that it’s not happening as quickly as you’d like. And mention that you’d appreciate it if they don’t ask about it too often, and that they’ll hear from you when the time comes. Or else, you could brush it off with a joke if it’s hard to put into words.

I have to say, people often don’t realize this until they’re going through it themselves or know someone who is. I used to make those kinds of comments too, until I realized that it’s not as easy as it sounds. I was lucky enough to get pregnant quickly (2nd month and 5th month), but on the other hand, we lost our son. My body also only became ready again after two months of slowly preparing to try for another baby.

The tests gave me the support I needed. On the days when the tests were negative, I didn’t have to do anything and could let go a bit more because I knew it wouldn’t help anyway. That gave me the peace and breaks I needed. Hopefully, it helps you in your process! I think keeping things in perspective is important because a GP or gynecologist often needs this as ‘proof’ that you don’t ovulate or have a late ovulation. They can easily dismiss those tests as nonsense.

I ovulated around day 20-25 and got my period 10 days later. So I only had a luteal phase of 9 days. With that, it was luck

Wishing you lots of success, and if you have questions or want to vent, you know where to find us!
