First appointment with the OB-GYN..

Hi everyone, we've been trying to get pregnant for over a year.. Finally took the step to go to the gynecologist. That was yesterday. After answering a few questions, she told me she wanted to do an ultrasound between days 3-7 of my period. Has anyone else had this? I also need to have blood drawn on day 3 of my period, and in the last week of my cycle. I'd love to hear your experiences, thanks!

I didn’t have the ultrasound, but I did have the blood test during my cycle. They do this to check the levels and/or balance of the different hormones to see if they’re not (too much) off.

Hi Sa1 - I had the ultrasound yesterday (3 days of period). And today I'm taking clomiphene citrate 50 mg (2x per day) for 5 days. Next week I'll have another ultrasound to see how far along things are. If everything goes well, I can inject the Pregnyl myself (I'll get the signal from the hospital when, but I have the Pregnyl in the fridge) and then the IUI treatment within 48 hours.

They didn't take any blood during my period It might depend on the treatment. And apparently every hospital has its own methods

Thanks for your reply! How did you find the ultrasound while you were on your period? I have no trouble with it at all, but the idea that it has to be during your period is still a bit different.. I hope everything goes well for you and that you'll have positive news soon.

I didn't have any trouble getting an ultrasound during my period either, because they deal with this every day (that's what I think)

The 2nd ultrasound will be more exciting! If it doesn't happen now, hopefully it will next time. It's all very exciting for you too

Hi sa1, I had this ultrasound last year, I found it a bit uncomfortable. My advice, wear a long sweater or a little dress. Then it doesn't feel so weird at all.

Thanks, Sophie! Good tip, I'll do that!

Oh, and I also had some wet toilet paper with me. Just to freshen up a bit before time haha

Top Sophie!! Did you use pads or tampons? A bit embarrassing question, sorry ????

Haha, isn't this forum supposed to be for weird questions? I just had a regular pad. I refreshed it before the appointment, put in a fresh one, and that was it I felt clean and fresh anyway
