What do you guys take to get pregnant?

Hi ladies,

Got my period yesterday. Again, the same question pops up: what are we doing wrong?

Yesterday I quit smoking for the third time. It's tough these days, but every little bit helps.

I'm wondering what else might be preventing pregnancy. For example, bending over too much while doing housework, driving too much (bumps), or walking for too long (gravity)?

Do you experience this too?

Best,
Caroline

Bending over, driving, walking, etc. really doesn't have any influence. Do you think our (grand)mothers did that in the past? My two grandmas had their hands full with kids and were busy day and night. Okay, driving wasn't around for most back then, but housework was tough in those days.

Living healthily (not smoking, little/no alcohol, lots of veggies & fruit, and regular exercise) and avoiding too much stress where possible. Those seem like important guidelines to me.

And it doesn't have to be that you're doing something wrong; there are so many things that need to align if you want to get pregnant and eventually have a baby.

I get what you mean. But can you also understand me a little? We've been trying to get pregnant for over 2 years now, including one miscarriage at 12 weeks. The doctors say the chance of a 'spontaneous' pregnancy is high. Then I keep coming back to the question of whether we're doing something wrong. I don't smoke (anymore), don't drink a drop of alcohol, exercise enough, etc. At some point you start wondering anyway.

By the way, I saw that you're already pregnant. May I ask how long it took for you to get pregnant?

I get (I think) your frustration. For us, it took over a year, and we also had questions about what was wrong or what the issue was. I can't give you an answer for that. We didn't have a success formula, and in the end, it just worked out.

What's interesting in hindsight is that right before I finally got pregnant, I was away from home for work for a while. This meant I could (and had to) let go of the whole conception process. My partner wasn't there, and I was just the Maria I had always been before we decided we wanted kids. No hassle with ovulation sticks, temperatures, or mandatory sex, etc. And when I came back home, we had missed each other, and I had jet lag, which led to spontaneous intimate moments at times when I would normally have been asleep long ago. I'm not saying this caused me to get pregnant, but who knows, it might have helped.

But yeah, letting go is pretty much impossible when you're in the middle of it. I hope for you that it happens quickly and that you're heading towards a fertile future!

Yeah, letting go is indeed hard. Glad it worked out for you guys.

    Hi Maria,

Quick question... had ovulation on Sunday or Monday. Just had a 2-hour stress moment this morning, do you think this could affect conception? Now I'm stressed about being stressed.

    How are things otherwise?
