That's indeed tricky. I have some dinners and parties coming up in the next few days, and I'm already thinking about how to hide the fact that I'm not drinking anymore. My friends are used to me having a glass or two, but I want to be careful just in case I'm already pregnant this month. My husband will have to double up on his drinks if I subtly swap my glass with his

We aren't really doing ovulation tests yet either.
I only stopped in late April, and we're both at that point where we're taking it easy and seeing what we can do for now (calculating ovulation ourselves).
Of course, I haven't had a period yet either; my last one was a few days after I stopped the pill.
We did have intercourse on my (hopefully) ovulation date.
Beforehand you say "we'll see," but many of you probably recognize this: you end up being more involved in it, haha.
I notice I'm becoming more aware of what my body is doing, regarding feeling the ovulation.
I don't feel anything, and I never have, haha.
So I have no idea what my cycle is like yet. I hope and secretly assume it should be fairly regular.
I was on a light pill and I did stop every month.
Of course, you never really know... waiting is the only thing we can do.
As for drinking, we haven't had (too) much for over a year now.
When going out for dinner or at a party, a beer or wine is still nice, but that's where it stops.
I've had regular migraines for the past 1.5 years, and there were periods when I was happy to wake up on weekends without a headache.
The last thing I wanted was a possible hangover, so I often skipped alcohol.
Lately, my headaches have been going really well.
I don't have a problem with my husband still having a beer or continuing to do so.
When we go out for dinner, I sometimes enjoy a Radler or a glass of wine.
Once I find out I'm pregnant, that's it, of course.
But it helps that I don't drink at all during the week.
I'm not afraid of comments from family or friends. They know I hardly drink anymore due to migraines. -

Hey ladies,
Well, I took another pregnancy test this morning and it was negative again. Nothing to see at all. So I guess those two days of brown discharge must have been my period? But I was immediately curious what my ovulation test would say today. I did the CB test with double faces and got a blinking face right away? How can that be? Is my next ovulation already coming up soon? -

Hi Wendy,
I think I'll just go with the ovulation test. And start a new round

Hi NL93, yeah I'm doing that too.
Those stories about alcohol use are so relatable. I actually really enjoy drinking, but suddenly I've stopped completely. I think my mom has already picked up on the fact that my partner and I are trying to conceive. I haven't had a drink at all since I started taking folic acid. I'd read that alcohol reduces the effectiveness of those pills. My partner is happy about it because now I'm always the designated driver when we go somewhere where he can have a beer.

Sorry Wendy.. really weird about those 2 days of brown discharge indeed.
I've had painful/sensitive nipples for the past few hours. Really just my nipples.
Has anyone else experienced this? What does it mean? What is your body doing?
So I probably ovulated around last Tuesday. -
NL93 #87
Yeah, I had it for a day at the beginning. At that point, it was clearly the withdrawal bleeding. But you also read that it can be part of pregnancy symptoms. -

I don't really expect it to be a pregnancy at all.
I don't know if it's related to missing a pill. Even while taking the pill, I occasionally had sore nipples.
I probably won't find out what it is, but it's definitely strange. -

I had really painful breasts/nipples last month (when I got my period), but this time around round 1, I haven’t had any issues. Earlier in the week, I did have some lower abdominal cramps and felt a bit nauseous, and was really tired, but for the past two days or so, I’ve had no symptoms at all (just a bit tired, but I had a tough week). So my hope that we’d get pregnant right away this month isn’t very high anymore
Well, my period is due on May 11th, so we’ll know next week.. -

Nice to read that no one here can really figure out where the symptoms are coming from... whether it's coming off the pill, period, or possible pregnancy... tricky hihi, of course we're all hoping for the last one. I really have no idea what my cycle is like right now; I'm still waiting for my period after stopping the pill. Did you guys go to the doctor when you stopped the pill... or did you just Google all your questions?

Lore89, when my IUD was out and I had my first real period (I had to wait a month before trying to get pregnant due to my medication), I had terrible breast pain right after ovulation—I couldn't even lie on them. The next month, after ovulation, I had no discomfort at all and only started feeling breast pain after the positive pregnancy test. So maybe it's really happening for you.

Hi Mandy,
When did you stop the pill? Have you had your withdrawal bleed yet?
I just stopped too, probably just had my ovulation and am now waiting about 12 days for my period.
So I have no idea what my cycle is yet.
The chance of being pregnant right away is pretty small, but you never know!
I haven't been to the doctor, that's not necessary at all.
I think you should wait for your natural period first, and if it doesn't come after 3 months, then call the doctor. -

Hey Charmed
I stopped the pill on April 18th and then had light bleeding for about 4 days starting April 22nd... so that was probably withdrawal bleeding? Do you take your temperature or use ovulation tests? Or how do you know when you're ovulating... I'm curious, hope to get my normal cycle back soon. Also just to know that your body is working on its own again without all that crap in your body
. Are you trying for your first baby? -

Hi Mandy,
Okay, so we're pretty much in sync haha.
Yeah, my period was normal, just like always when I take my pill-free week once a month.
I use a period app to keep track of my cycle. It wasn't necessary with the pill, but still handy. I guess my cycle is around 28 days. Through the app, you can also see your fertile days and when ovulation happens.
Indeed, this is our first baby. Are you expecting your first too? -

Hihi, Ysabel, so there is hope after all!
A few months ago, I went to the gynecologist for a check-up and mentioned that I might be stopping the pill soon. She advised me to see my doctor for a blood test to check for toxoplasmosis and rubella (red measles) before stopping, just to know what I'm immune to and if all the levels are good, etc., so I did that. Of course, you don't need to do it if you don't think it's necessary, but I liked knowing that everything was okay

Lore89, I also thought "well, I should definitely feel something, pain, pricks or discomfort in my breasts right after ovulation". Later, when I found out I was pregnant, I went looking online and saw that so many women actually have no complaints at all when they turn out to be pregnant. So honestly, I think it's a good thing that you don't have any discomfort anywhere.
Oh wow, can you get that checked? I didn't even know that, I'll have to ask. I find it quite interesting. Especially chickenpox, I've never had that. My mom always deliberately put me around kids who had it, but I never got it

Hi Charmed, I also had a lot of symptoms that made me think I might be pregnant.
But unfortunately, it turns out I'm not pregnant after all.
I had sore nipples, could barely lie on them, even got bumps on my nipples (they're still there now), pain in my groin, especially on the left side, menstrual-like pain at the bottom of my belly, and sometimes felt nauseous.
Because of all these symptoms, I really thought maybe I'd be pregnant right away with the first try, but no luck. Well, that was my experience.

I found the blood tests mainly interesting for toxoplasmosis. You can have had it without even knowing, and if so, you're immune and don't have to worry so much about cold cuts, raw meat, cats, gardening, etc., so that saves quite a bit during those 9 months.
Didn't know they were also testing for rubella, but it turns out it's good to know because if you've never been vaccinated or had it, you're not immune, and if you catch it during the first half of your pregnancy, it can have consequences for the baby.
It's still exciting, waiting for the first results
5 more days! -

Hi, how is everyone doing?
I've been experiencing a lot of white, mucus-like discharge today.
I'm now wondering if you get that before or after ovulation?
Well, I last cleaned up on Sunday morning.
And just cleaned up again. -

Usually, before and after can also work. Fertile mucus is clear, stretchy mucus.
