Oh, that's a shame! But don't get too down about it. At least your body has started up again after stopping the pill, which is a good sign. Just try again this month, and maybe it'll happen quickly. After stopping the pill, it can take a bit longer before you need to panic, right?

That's a bummer, Wendy... but it's good that you got your period so quickly after stopping the pill. For a lot of women, there's a long period between stopping the pill and getting their period, right? Hopefully, round two will be more successful! Have you already started taking folic acid?!
  3. Raisa #43

I already had a folate deficiency anyway, so I was already taking it. Otherwise, I took extra vitamins.

Hey, yesterday I had brown discharge one time and nothing the next time. There's hardly anything in my panty liner, but I keep wiping and there's always that brownish color. It's really peculiar. I still have a bit of nausea. I thought it had passed, but now I only see brown on the tissue when wiping, not in the liner. I also keep feeling a weird sensation on the left side near my groin.

I'm now wondering again if it's just my period?

Regarding Mandy's question: I've been taking folic acid for a month before I stopped taking the pill.
  5. Raisa #45

@wendy32 I don't want to discourage you, but I had that too yesterday and it went away with my period.

Hi Raisa, maybe it's the start of my period then. Phoe, let's wait and see. Anyway, I haven't had any brown discharge at all since 8 PM.

My boyfriend says I should get a test just to be sure, in case it doesn't come. But well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen this cycle.
  7. Raisa #47

Testing can indeed always be done, then you know for sure!
I did this round too and unfortunately it turned out that the brown discharge was a precursor to my period.
I was doubting because my temperature stayed quite high. Unfortunately, it has now dropped and my period started yesterday.

Hi Wendy, I’ve had the same symptoms before—brown discharge and all—and it turned out to be my period after all. But since yours has stopped now, hopefully it was implantation and your test is positive!

I also stopped the pill at the end of March (didn’t skip the placebo week), had my period on April 13th, and my cycle stayed a steady 28 days. This first round I’ve been really trying. The week before my last period I also had more symptoms than usual, like tender breasts, more cramps, etc., which turned out to be due to coming off the pill. I’m keeping in mind that it probably won’t happen on the first try, but I’m really invested! How you start noticing every little thing you feel and see, and then start Googling it like crazy.

We’re all in the same boat, ladies. It’s nice that we can talk about it together. So glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s been obsessed with something else ever since deciding to stop the pill.

    Hi ladies

Well, I haven't had any discharge for a while now. So I've decided to take a test tomorrow morning. Just to be sure. Although I kind of expect it to be negative, you still hope to see something different. Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Hi Lore, yeah, it's silly, isn't it? I'm also searching everything online. You really shouldn't do that; they bombard you with all kinds of stories, but you still want to know where you stand. Ultimately, taking a pregnancy test is the only way to know for sure, but it's also nice to share your story with others here.

Hi, I just took a test. And as I thought, it's negative. Really disappointing but okay.

What I'm wondering now is whether the brown blood I lost was actually my period? It was only for a very short time and not continuous. From April 29th around 8 PM until now, I haven't had any discharge at all, not even when wiping. Or could it be because it's my first real period after stopping the pill?

Anyway, conclusion: I'm going for round two
  11. SS21 #51

We also expected that I would get my period. I stopped on April 1st and just now I have 2 tests with a very faint line in my hands.
We can't believe it! They don't test my blood here, so I have to wait another 4 weeks before seeing the midwife. I find it super exciting!

SS21 wow that's so nice for you! Congratulations!
  13. Raisa #53

    SS21 is so exciting!
Wendy, that's such a bummer! Could your cycle be longer, meaning you might have implanted now?

    Hi everyone,
I've been enjoying reading along and decided to jump in and share a bit.
Stopped the pill on April 14th and got my period on April 18th.
I usually stick to a 7-day period, and then it's truly over, including the brown spotting .
So far, no unpleasant side effects from stopping the pill.
Though I have noticed my libido has gone up a bit since last week, but that could also be all in my head.
Now it's just waiting for my fertile days.
I know the chances of getting pregnant right away are pretty slim, but we're going to give it our best shot haha.

I think I'm posting as a guest for now, but I'll set up an account later!
It's nice to read all the stories and experiences; you really never know.
Sometimes it works right away with the first try, and other times it takes half a year!
  15. Happyell #55

My libido has also skyrocketed since I stopped the pill!! But that's really positive, hehe
  16. Raisa #56

Higher libido here too! To the great delight of my husband
  17. Wendy32 started this #57

I’ve got that too, my libido is higher hehe.

Hey Raisa, could that be it? That implantation doesn't happen until later? I still don't have that discharge anymore. When could I possibly take another test? Because this morning it was completely negative, nothing to see at all, no plus sign + to be seen.

Anyway, I'm keeping a close eye on everything down below, let's just say haha. Because otherwise it might be a very short period and I'll miss my ovulation.
  18. mandy22491 #58

Glad you're chatting along, Charmed! It's nice to have a little group that's dealing with the same stuff every day, hehe... I stopped the pill on Tuesday, April 18th, and then from Saturday, April 22nd until Tuesday, April 25th, I had light bleeding, weird cramps/stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, etc.... Then it was over for a few days, and now I've got some more abdominal cramps and sore breasts... So maybe that was my period last week or something... I find it all quite tricky, hehe. Too bad you didn't get a positive test this morning... Maybe I should start using ovulation tests too. Have you shared with friends/family that you've stopped the pill or not yet...?
  19. SS21 #59

Mandy, we didn't tell anyone that we had stopped, and you?
  20. Raisa #60

@wendy if you're sure about your ovulation, it probably won't be, but the fact that you don't see anything else coming up below is a positive sign.
How far along are you in your cycle now? Maybe test in a day or two if you don't get your period.
A short cycle like that seems impossible to me.
