Well, yeah, what a weird person, seriously..
That shows you.. luckily not everyone is the same;-)
Yeah, it's really weird when you think about it.. the one wants this and the other wants the complete opposite..
I'm definitely not for abortion either..
Then I always think, if you really don't want it.. make another (foster) family happy with it after the birth.. so to speak..
But well, this might be easy to say, it really depends on the situation the person is in.. But I'm certainly not in favor..

As for abortion, you can't give me any reason at all to do it...
    I just can't understand it!
Like you said: don't let that child pay the price, let it be happy in another family.
What if you then later have children: "Of course we love you, but we have your brother or sister.. well.. unfortunately murdered actually!!

My husband can only understand it if it's a product of, say, rape.
But I once saw a report about a woman who, when her daughter was 18, told her how she got pregnant:
Terrible, rape, and that girl couldn't understand why her mother had kept her.
"Sweetheart," she said, "that man killed me mentally at that moment! If I had done the same to you, I wouldn't have been any better than him!!
You are my child and no one could take that away from me; not even him!"
    I was crying of course!!!
But I had so much admiration for that person!!

So what your friend did in the past might have been wrong, but she did give life to 3 children, right?
  3. Cin #23

Yes, definitely. She didn't even for a second think about having an abortion when she found out she was pregnant..:-)
Oh, I can cry about anything since my first birth now... And that lady said it so beautifully.. I totally relate.. I believe that even in such a situation I wouldn't be able to have an abortion either.. Definitely not..
By the way, what a beautiful ultrasound. You see the profile photo, I assume that's your baby? Amazing how 3D and 4D work...

    Good to hear!!

What that woman said will stay with me for the rest of my life!!
It gave me an even better perspective on the value of an unborn child!
Glad you feel the same way!

    Yeah, the whining..
Be careful, I'm glad that (even in company) my husband makes it clear to me that he hasn't noticed any hormones or grumpiness from me.
On his side though, haha!! I actually find it sweet..

With this weather, you often feel like having a beer!!
I had something like: "Nine months of gritting my teeth, I'm willing to do it!!"
But I forgot about breastfeeding.. Burst! Haha!
But okay, that's coming too.. .....for my pint..

Hey, can I maybe get a nice ultrasound photo (we're actually very proud of it!!)
But those two of yours are also "for the magazines," my mother would say!!
    What beautiful faces!!

Totally agree with Olivia-Anna, cute little faces!

    Hey ladies,
It’s so hard to cry, I remember during my last pregnancy I was just sitting behind my laptop and suddenly started crying for no reason at all haha
I have to say though, it’s still manageable for my husband too;-) In previous pregnancies, it was quite a lot to bear with my screaming hormones
I’m now 8 weeks pregnant with our 3rd child..so it might still come;-)
MMMM yeah I understand what you mean, a little cry, a little beer is always nice from time to time. But I’m definitely willing to put up with it all to make sure everything goes smoothly..
Thank you so much ladies, we also have 2 wonderful kids. who we are obviously very proud of :-) They’re quite the little rascals though hihi..

Hi, I'm 4 weeks pregnant now and I've been drinking quite a lot over the past month, and I didn't know I was pregnant! I'm really worried, but is that even necessary?
  8. sanne #28

Hi! I had a question. I'm now 30 days pregnant. I didn't know, but I've had quite a bit of alcohol. I'm worried—do I really need to be?

I drank during the first 5 weeks too. About 5 evenings. Rémy Martin VSOP (cognac), Eristof (vodka) and Johnny Walker (whiskey) and on top of that I smoked heavily, a big pack of West per day... Since I knew I was pregnant I stopped drinking and smoking. The funny thing is that I hadn't drunk for about 6 years before that and I had been off the pill for almost a year... and I got pregnant exactly that month

I just found out last Friday that I'm pregnant, and the week before that, on Saturday, I had a small bottle of rosé that makes two glasses. I felt guilty about it and mentioned it to my GP yesterday, who reacted so calmly that I figured it's probably not a big deal. Now I'm being super careful about my eating and drinking habits. Hihi, all for my unborn baby. It's also my first one, so everything is still new to me.

I found out that I'm a week less pregnant than I thought. Apparently, I got pregnant in the 3rd week of my cycle. Which means I only drank during the first 4 weeks. So luckily, it can't do too much harm since the embryo mainly lives off the gestational sac at that point .

I'm so glad to read this. I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant and also drank quite a bit in the first weeks because I thought it wouldn't work out anyway. (After two years and one miscarriage). And voila, I'm pregnant. Now I'm afraid of a miscarriage again, also because of the alcohol. The coming weeks will probably still be uncertain..,!

    Hi Katie,
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I also drank when I didn’t know I was pregnant yet.
And I did IUI, so you can imagine. But everyone told me not to focus on getting pregnant, so I just lived my life as usual.

    Best wishes

We had a party in February and I’ve had enough... On March 1st, I found out I was pregnant... but we weren’t really thinking about it because there was a small chance it could happen spontaneously... so we weren’t really focused on it... and then suddenly, I was pregnant... truly a miracle..
I actually drink very little... I’m usually the designated driver, but since it was our own party, I did have a drink, and then I found out I was already pregnant... I told the midwife about it, but she said not to worry... After that party, I haven’t had a single drop. And I’m enjoying my pregnancy... According to the books, I have 6 weeks left. Curious what our little one will do.. hihihi.

Lotte, I also find that last part of your text very inappropriate!!

What I never really understand is why you still drink when you know you could be pregnant. You were probably there when you had your period. You know it can happen. I hope this will be a learning moment for you because you really need to take better care of yourself and your baby for the next 19-25 years

During my pregnancy, I didn't drink a single drop to avoid any risk... It's indeed not good to drink alcohol or smoke during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
But not drinking any alcohol at all during the period before, I think is crazy!!! Because you don't know if it's going to be successful AND oh dear the people who have to try for YEARS... Should they never be allowed to drink anything???

I also have a chance of being pregnant again, but this evening and regularly I drink a glass of wine... not much but still something... In the first weeks, there is no connection between mother and child, so there is no real reason to worry... You can still drink and/or smoke... (I stopped smoking immediately along with my pill) Then it's just unhealthy for your own body...

    Sanne,
just sharing a bit of what I also posted on page 1...

But to completely avoid alcohol during the period before, I think it's crazy!!! Because you don't know if it's a hit AND oh dear, people who have to TRY for YEARS... Should they never be allowed to drink anything???

I’ve also been pregnant for a little while now with my third, and with the first two I really did my best to keep everything healthy, even though I ended up dehydrated and in the hospital for both. This time around, the third wasn’t quite planned, and I also drank quite a bit on my birthday and have felt really bad about it ever since. I do think the negative reactions here are over the top. Everyone wants to do things as perfectly as they can in their own way, and feeling like you’ve already been punished for how things turned out doesn’t exactly call for more useless judgment. Advice from outsiders who think they know better? The perfect mother doesn’t exist.

It's nice to read all this. I was also a bit worried because I had a drink while I didn't know I was pregnant yet.
Now that I know, I'm very careful about what I eat and drink, but you still feel a bit guilty...

Hi Katie! Great post. Many people wouldn't dare ask this question because they're afraid of getting attacked!! As many others have already said, the chance that your baby has already been harmed is very small... I found out I was pregnant on a Sunday night when I was 18 years old, and I had let myself go wild on Saturday night because the relationship with my son's dad had broken down... Several glasses of whisky and tequila shots went down that night, and at birth he was perfectly healthy, and still is 6 years later! So you don't need to feel guilty. Many people go through something like this but don't dare to post it on a forum because of mean reactions! Enjoy your pregnancy and soon your beautiful son in your arms!!

I have a question... yesterday I had quite a bit of wine and then during a conversation I realized that my period was 6 weeks ago instead of 5... irregular cycle... now I just took a test and it's positive.. could this be very harmful? The baby is definitely welcome
