My friend isn't getting pregnant and I am immediately... How do you handle this?

Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. I have a friend who knows that we've been trying to conceive for a little while now. She's been trying for years and unfortunately can't get pregnant naturally; she had an ectopic pregnancy... It was very painful because if there's anyone who deserves children, it's her... They've recently started trying via IVF, and the first round didn't work out.

But now, we've been trying since early October and got pregnant right away. After 17 days, I had implantation bleeding, and a week later, I tested positive. The blood test at the doctor's office was also positive.

Now, I'd like to know how you would handle telling her this. I'm a bit afraid that I might be a disappointment to her since it's not working out for her, but it worked out immediately for me.

Seems really hard to tell her about the hair, but I think you shouldn't wait too long, just in case she hears it from someone else. She'll definitely be happy for you, and she wants that for herself too. Involve her as much as she wants and can handle. Good luck!!

Just make a cute little onesie or bib and tell them. You don't have to say that you were pregnant right away, just tell them that you're expecting and that you're sharing the news with mixed feelings????

Hi.. That's always tricky.. I told my girlfriend earlier than the rest, so she could get used to it a bit.

I had a bit of this too, before and after my pregnancy. For medical reasons, I was afraid it would take a really long time for us to get pregnant. And a friend of mine kept giving me the advice that I shouldn't think about it too much and should just put it out of my mind. I found that so annoying, like you could just flip a switch. At one point, we were on vacation and she called me. She was pregnant with her second, even though they weren't even trying, it just happened right through the contraceptives. So at first, I got a bit irritated; that vacation was supposed to be about relaxing from all that, and she calls me about this. But she said she didn't want me to see it on Facebook and that she was really struggling with it, which is why she wanted to tell me. Then I softened up a bit. Well, of course I wish her happiness, and I can't expect her to keep it quiet for months just for my sake. So I congratulated her.

A while later, I got pregnant, relatively quickly after all. But I have two friends who also really want babies, separate from each other, of course. One lives with a partner but has a condition that makes it harder, due to stress and medication use. And the other doesn't even have a relationship yet and is very sad about it because she longs for a little family too. Well, it's really tough for both of them, of course. But I cautiously showed them the ultrasound photo and mentioned that I find it hard to 'rub it in their faces' and stuff. In response, they both (still separate from each other, hihi) said they were happy for me and wished me well. But still, especially with the second friend, I notice she has a hard time with it. When we meet up and our living room is full of baby clothes and other baby gear, since I just had a birthday. But yeah, it's just how it is; I'm pregnant and they aren't. I try to give positive advice, but it's kind of those annoying clichés. "It'll happen to you soon too!" and so on. I found that kind of advice annoying too, hihi.
