Hi Lala... That's weird that you weren't allowed to hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks... They can usually hear it by 8 weeks... And at 12 weeks, it's standard as far as I know...

    Hi Bunny,

Maybe it's different at every midwife's practice?
    I don't know either...
Then 6 weeks is still quite early, I think.
But I'm definitely hoping for Brabbel89 that there's a nice, beating heart!
    It's exciting, isn't it.

Yeah, I don't know about six weeks either. I think that's only in Belgium. In the Netherlands, they start at eight weeks...

Hi! I'm 5 weeks today. Next Wednesday I can go back to the midwife again. She told me that I'll be able to hear the heartbeat then, so it's definitely possible, right??

    Hi Lala and Brabbel,

I had my first ultrasound last night, but I wasn't allowed to hear the heartbeat, only see it. I don't know why that was. I didn't ask either. For some reason, now that I'm pregnant, I'm being super pragmatic. I didn't cry, I wasn't beaming with joy either; I'm just very calm and composed about it. I don't think the realization has really hit me yet, especially since you don't really see a baby on such an ultrasound, but rather a little spot where you see a movement that is the heartbeat.

    Hi Bunny,

    Congratulations on the good ultrasound!
I was completely sober until my 10th week.
I didn't have any problems with it.
I've been uncontrollable for the past 3 weeks.
    I'm terribly emotional and moody.
I've seen a suspicious and insecure side of myself that I've never had before!

    Best wishes

Hi Lala, that's really tough! Suspicious and moody in every way? I've been dealing with cold water phobia in my relationship. Now we're getting married and having a baby... Forever connected. We've had some pretty intense fights during the 2.5 years we've been together, and we still do sometimes. But we're also happy together, though now I sometimes feel anxious because everything has been moving at a breakneck pace since February.

I meant: in what respect? Not in every respect.

    Hi Bunny

My boyfriend and I just passed our one-year anniversary in May, so we’re only really getting to know each other now.
My boyfriend has been home for 6 months, so we’re together a lot.
I’m suspicious and sometimes think he’s talking to other women.
When I ask for his phone, he gives it to me and lets me check everything.
Then I get so sad because I really hate that I apparently don’t trust him.
And his mood swings are crazy—he’s super cheerful one day and then feels absolutely terrible the next day over everything you can imagine.

    Love
