pregnant with the third and after 2 boys a secret wish for a girl...

Hi everyone,

I'm new here... 18 weeks pregnant with the third baby... and as the title says, my heart secretly wishes for a girl... and I actually feel really bad about it! I always thought I had no preference and would rather switch off this feeling now, but it just won't leave my head... I feel a bit ashamed because no matter what my heart wishes, my gut says it'll be another boy, and I'd be truly happy with that, but I can't shake off this feeling in my heart... Has anyone experienced this? Tips? We're having the gender scan in two weeks, so I guess I'll have this feeling until then... Again, I'm not doing this on purpose, I don't want to hurt anyone with this feeling I'm having now, because I really want to turn it off myself, but I just can't!!!

    Hi Mila, I don't think that's anything out of the ordinary. I think everyone has their own preference.

    It has nothing to do with how much you love or will love the baby, but more with what you imagine yourself doing right now. At least, that's how it is for me.

    I wouldn't feel guilty at all because I think it's completely normal. You also don't need to switch off your feelings; 'we' already do that way too much.

    Good luck with the ultrasound, and I hope you get what you want too.

    Hi Mila,

    I'm also pregnant with my third. I already have two daughters, and I have a wish too—I'd really, really love a boy. So I totally get how you feel. I don't think you need to feel guilty about it. At least, I don't!

    Hi Mila,

    I think everyone feels that way. Don't feel guilty about it. And I hope your wish comes true. And keep in mind that you'll always love your child, whether it's a girl or a boy, so you really don't need to worry about that. It's totally normal!

    Had the ultrasound today...everything was fine!! And beyond expectations...they saw a girl!! I didn't see a penis hehe but it still feels so unreal...I really had a feeling it would be a boy...still have to come in soon, so I'm not shopping yet...that's what I expected...but in 2 weeks there's another check-up plus ultrasound, so I'll ask again just to be sure!

    Hi Mila,

    Congratulations, girl! I can totally imagine you still can't believe it. We're having a girl too... and now I'm finally daring to buy girls' clothes (and I'm 31 weeks pregnant, mind you! ;-). Purely because the midwife checked everything extra for me last Tuesday, haha.

    Hi Mila,

    I'm pregnant with my fourth. I have one son and two daughters, in that order. We secretly had a little hope for a boy. It would have been nice as a finale.
    But an amniocentesis (I got the results today) showed that it's a healthy girl. That's what ultimately matters. So I'm overjoyed with that too.

    Congratulations on having a girl! It's going to be my third too, and I secretly wish for a girl as well. But most importantly, I hope she's healthy. I'm currently 11 weeks + 3 days, so for us, it's still a bit of waiting. But I find it really special anyway... being pregnant again after 12 years—it's truly an amazing experience right now. I'm experiencing everything much more consciously.

    Hi, I'm pregnant for the third time, I have two boys, I've always hoped for a girl, now I'm 12 weeks pregnant, and honestly I'm quite prepared for a boy, although I myself would have loved a girl, a boy would also be fine but I hooooope for a girl, I'm super happy for you that you have a girl, somewhere I have to think of my neighbor who has three girls and is expecting a fourth girl.     Hi, here I am again. I left a message when I was 12 weeks along. I have two boys and secretly hoped for a girl. I got my ultrasound at 13 weeks, and it was very clear that it’s a boy. Had to get used to it for a bit, but hey, health comes first. I’m super happy about it anyway. Can’t wait to hold my little one in my arms.

    I have a 15-year-old daughter and I think this one will be a girl again.
    I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and have the same feeling about it as I did with my daughter.
    But feelings can deceive you, right, so it could very well not be that way.

    And a preference? I'd really love another girl.
    Why? I somehow don't see myself as the mother of a boy.
    Probably doesn't make any sense at all, but that's just how feelings are.
    And by the way (of course!) if it turns out to be a boy after all, I'll still be jumping for joy!!!!!

    I think so too, that you're having a girl... and that gap in the sky is really beautiful, I think there will be a lot of gaps in the sky coming up, it'll be like Swiss cheese hahahaha

    I found a nice forum of people who are also going for their 3rd child :-)
    I already have 2 boys and now I'm having a baby with my new partner (my 3rd is my 1st with him).

    I totally relate, I have 2 boys so a girl would be really nice, but if it's a boy I'll jump for joy too!!

    I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant. Until yesterday, no one knew until my sister-in-law came by, so she and her partner are the only ones who know. We're both having birthdays soon and it seemed like a fun idea to reveal it via cake, but I'm really curious to hear the reactions of the rest of you!!

    How did you all feel about having a 3rd child?

    I'm pregnant with my third too!!!
    Only just 5 weeks along...
    But secretly, I'm hoping for a girl too!!!
    Because we already have two healthy boys!!
    It would be wonderful to have a girl joining us...
    But my gut feeling says it's going to be a boy again, which is amazing too!
    As long as the baby is healthy!!!

    Hi everyone,

    It’s so nice to read this forum. I completely understand the feeling of really wanting a girl after having two boys. I was so disappointed when the 20-week ultrasound showed we were expecting another boy. It’s been a week and a half now, and I’ve gotten used to the idea of having another son. As cliché as it sounds, I’m already happy that the baby, as far as we can tell, is healthy.

    But the “sadness” of never having a daughter (this is our last child) is still there, you know? It might stay that way.
