What can you forbid the babysitter?

Yeah, it's tough if they really don't want to, then she has to respect that.
Is there no middle ground to get her on board with it?
Because if they're going to do it secretly, that's not helpful either.

Have a good talk about it with your husband, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law.

Strength to you with it.

    That's such an unpleasant situation! Of course, you have the right to forbid it. I also think your mother-in-law's reaction shows quite a lack of respect for your daughter. Like, a child should just accept everything (while she probably wouldn't like it herself if her own (father-in-law) wiped her face with his dirty handkerchief).
    This really highlights the difficulty with family as babysitters. Then the interests get mixed up. With a non-relative babysitter, these kinds of things are easier to agree on (at least that's the experience here).
