Daycare or nanny?

Hi ladies,

What kind of childcare did you choose and why? We're still on the fence and would love to hear others' experiences.

Daycare with full conviction! Socializing, playing with other kids, learning to share, less jealousy when siblings come along, keep it up. My daughter goes with great joy.:-)

    Daycare.
I work in daycare myself, and I see how nice it is for the kids. They have lots of other children around them, which stimulates their development. Because they can learn things from each other. A nanny seems okay too, but I find it nice if my child grows up with other kids around them.

I quit my job so I could take care of my kids myself. It’s been really intense and not to be underestimated, but for me, it’s still the best decision I could have made.

Our daughter was with a nanny from the time she was 3 months old. For us, this was the best choice. The family also had 3 girls, with the youngest being one year older than our girl. They always had fun playing together. She just fit right in with that family, so she also went along to swimming lessons or to the riding school. There was also the option to stay over a few times.
From her 4th birthday, our daughter goes to a farm-based daycare (BSO), and it's very fun there too. Regularly visiting the animals in the barn and lots of outdoor play:-D

I’ve got my own daycare for my kids, but it’s not a Kind en Co daycare. Still, it’s a really good daycare and affordable. They take great care of your child and have lots of experience.

That sounds fun, that agricultural animal rescue. How did you end up there, and do they have some kind of nationwide website with addresses for this type of rescue?

I hope to be able to get back to work somewhere soon. We've already sorted out daycare. We chose daycare deliberately, since we both come from that field ourselves, back in the day. (both after-school care)

At daycare, there's more peace, cleanliness, and routine than with a babysitter. Grandpa and Grandma are there for fun, and that's how it should stay, as far as we're concerned.

My little girl is going to a daycare provider for the 2nd time now, but it's been the right choice. She loves it there and is learning so much! :-D

I'm leaning towards a nanny now.

Childcare is getting more and more expensive... :-(

    I'm looking for a babysitter.
I did an internship at a daycare center for a while and didn't really like it—so many kids and so little supervision.
It could be coincidence, but there were things that happened that I completely disagreed with.
A calm environment, routine, and cleanliness are also possible with a babysitter, as well as contact with other children.
Grandpa and grandma take care of her one day a week, just like they did with my daughter, and they have an amazing bond with all three of them.

We have childcare 3 times a week, and 2 times a week they go to my mom's place, so it's really well arranged. They absolutely adore the childcare provider, Jennifer, and they're also super fond of grandma. Greetings, Madelene

We’re lucky to have found in-home childcare at a reasonable price. Otherwise, it would definitely have been a daycare nanny here. Older kids benefit from having several playmates and can handle different caregivers well, so daycare (KDV) fits them perfectly. But for babies, at least until they’re one year old, we think it’s better to keep them with one consistent, familiar caregiver. Babies don’t do much with other kids yet (except watch them), so daycare isn’t necessarily needed for them.

Our daughter is now 2½. Starting next week, she’ll go to toddler playgroup because she’s really ready for a “bigger” world and more interaction with other children and adults (besides the contacts she already has with my friends and their kids). I’m pregnant; baby #2 is due early 2015. We’ll definitely keep our childcare provider until baby #2 is one year old; after that, he/she might go to daycare (and big sis will be in school by then, plus after-school care).
