Looking for fellow IUI members... who has experience with it?

Welcome to Brabbels!
What a coincidence, I'm having my first IUI tomorrow. I'm really nervous!
You can read my story on my profile. It actually sounds a lot like your story. Almost two years of trying, slow sperm, now IUI.
I'd love to share experiences with someone who's in the same boat.
Talk soon,
Sophia

Hi Fief,
I’ve actually never replied on forums before, but I checked them a lot during my own IUI journey and got so much support from them! That period was just incredibly tough, living day to day between hope and fear. I read your post and decided to reply after all ;-)
Last year I had 2 IUIs. My cycle was very irregular and my husband’s sperm wasn’t good at all. After washing, only 1.8 million remained! We had everything checked, but nothing was wrong with him except that there was very low sperm count. I had to take Clomid for my eggs. The first IUI had only 1.8 million and we were advised to register for IVF. But after urging, we did another IUI and this time my husband had 2.5 million. Still very low, but ultimately enough, because my beautiful 4-month-old daughter is happily sleeping in her crib right now!
I wanted to give you a little encouragement with this, because it really can work out. I hope it works for you too (and of course for your Sophia)! Wishing you lots of success and strength,

Hi ladies,
Emma, thanks for sharing your story with us! It gave me hope.
My first IUI is done. After processing, there were still 10 million sperm left, but the percentage of motile ones wasn't high. But we already knew that, which is why we actually started with IUI in the first place. The procedure itself took only a few minutes and wasn't painful at all. I lay there for 10 minutes afterwards. Now I have to wait two weeks to see if the treatment was successful. I shouldn't hope too hard, since the chance is only 1 in 10 per treatment. But now we have more chances than without help. I won't test before December 21st. These will be the longest two weeks ever!
Fief, are you managing to let go a bit?
Love,
Sophia -

Dear Fief,
I've been dealing with a long story for over 2.5 years. The gynecologist at the hospital said there was nothing wrong, so I got a second opinion at a fertility clinic. It turned out my husband has very low sperm count. On average, it's 5 billion unprocessed and at most 0.8 processed sperm. From IUI to ICSI, back to IUI. My husband isn't tall but has a small varicocele. Since my husband had enough sperm for ICSI, they don't want to do anything about it, maybe we should look into that after all...... How long was the gap between surgery and IUI for you? We did one IUI with 400,000 sperm and one IUI was canceled. Yoen had an ICSI puncture but there was no sperm. Then back to the urologist, then to the clinic, and then an IUI with 0.8 sperm. Then the frozen eggs were fertilized with sperm that had fused well, and they talked about transfer but suddenly they were dead. This month we're doing IUI every other month to not waste it. If the husband has sperm that's good enough to be frozen, they want to continue with ICSI, otherwise not. We've been at the clinic since May this year and have had what feels like one attempt so far with the IUI of 0.8 sperm, 40% of which were motile. And even though DIY in hospitals is too low, the clinic still wants to take the risk. The rest of the months it was either too little or couldn't proceed due to no sperm or dead embryos..... I hope it goes positive this time because we all want the miracle xxxxx -

Dear Bloem1983,
Thank you for your story, because around me, it feels like everyone gets pregnant easily. I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to follow any treatment at all. I felt that too... but stay positive! And just keep trying on your own, of course. I really hope it works out for all of us
How are things going now?
p.s.
Sorry for my late reply, a friend of mine lost her father, and I was there a lot over the past few weeks.. xx Fief -

Hi Fief,
My condolences on the passing of your friend's father.
I see it's been almost two weeks since your IUI. How are you feeling?
Best,

I don't have any clear symptoms. Occasional twinges here and there, but nothing that makes me think I'm pregnant. The waiting is really killing me. This time it's even worse because I know we have a better chance now than before. My period is due on the 19th, but I'm only going to test on the 21st if I haven't gotten my period by then.
Exciting for you! Will you let us know tomorrow?
Good luck!

Hi Sophie,
Thanks for your condolences.. Yeah, that's what I have now too! I just can't wait until Monday.. Sometimes I think it is, and at other times I think NOPE, it can't be.. I do have sore breasts (swollen) and indeed I feel a sharp pain mainly in my left ovary..
I'll let you know tomorrow!
See you tomorrow xxx Fief -

Bloem, I also had two eggs at 13mm at first, but only one ended up growing. I was a bit disappointed. But we'll be super happy with just one too
I hope you have two beautiful eggs next week that will result in twins!
Fingers crossed! -

Fief, by the way, I also have swollen breasts, but this happens to me every month between ovulation and my period. Otherwise, no weird symptoms yet. I'll see next week... -

Hi Sophia,
I took a test an hour ago and got a very faint line.. I was in shock, I stared at it for fifteen minutes! But I don't dare to be too happy yet because I have pretty bad cramps in my lower belly, kind of like period pain.. And I'm afraid it might come through, so I'll wait a bit more until Monday I think..

Hey girl, when can you officially test? A faint line sounds pretty good. Cramps can actually be a good sign due to the growing baby. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and saying a very cautious congratulations xxxx -

Hi love,
I'm officially testing on Monday the 16th.. okay, it's good to hear that those cramps might also mean it's positive.. but I just can't believe it, it feels so weird.. I really hope it is true and that it doesn't miscarry! Thank you so much bloem1983.. I'll keep you posted

Preferably five,
If your test tonight is already light positive, that's actually good. Your urine is less concentrated in the evening and since it's two days before the test date. Just wait and see, sounds good. The cramps would mean that your uterus is growing and you can experience that very early in your pregnancy.
Fingers crossed xxxx -

Yay Fief! Congratulations! One line! Those muscle cramps are normal! No matter what Bloem says, if you get a positive result even in the evening, that's a very good sign!
Awesome, girl. I'm so happy for you!
Best,

Fief, do you have any other ailments besides those MS cramps? -

Hi dear Sophie,
Thanks! I tested again today and got a thick line.. I'm really happy but still cautious, afraid it might not work out.. I called the gynecologist and made an appointment for the first ultrasound.. But now I have cramping pain in my lower abdomen, which is why I'm worried. To answer your question: I'm very tired and emotional. Yesterday I was crying so hard and then laughing again within 30 seconds haha my husband was startled... Also, I have to pee a lot.. I'm not really nauseous yet but I notice my appetite is lower..
`how do you feel? Do you recognize it a bit? I really hope you're pregnant too
I'll hear from you xx
Bloem thanks yes.. I hope I'll soon get over those jabs so I'm not so scared. xx
