iers-elfje
Hi everyone.
My name is Véronique, aka iers-elfje. I registered here a couple of weeks ago but haven't introduced myself yet, so I'll do that now.
I'm 28 and have been with my boyfriend Peter (44) for almost half a year. We've actually known each other for 8 years.
And I'm pregnant. Next Friday I'll be 10 weeks. It wasn't planned, I'll be honest about that. Peter and I had been talking about kids, we really want them. And we had this idea like, well, stop the pill in a year and then...
That year became a year earlier because I got pregnant while still on the pill. For me, this is my first pregnancy and baby, and for Peter too.
But we never doubted for a moment whether we should go for it or not. It was just settled. Period.
Of course, there are quite a few things that scare me. And those first 9 weeks weren't exactly pleasant to say the least.
For example, I was hospitalized with severe vomiting and dehydration. I have a disability (post-traumatic dystrophy in my leg) which means I take strong painkillers... and yes, we are weaning off the morphine and muscle relaxants etc. Unfortunately for me, the initial tapering schedule was too fast.. going from 40 pills a day to 2 pills a day in less than 3 weeks is not recommended. So now I'm tapering off by half a pill at least per week. As long as I'm off the stuff completely for the last 3 months. And I'm 100% committed to that. Thank God it shouldn't really harm the little one in my belly now. It's just that he/she might be a bit groggy at birth. And I swear, I'd rather crawl against the wall from the pain than do something like that to my child.
But I admit, I'm 9 weeks now and it's all still hard to grasp. I have a baby in my belly??? Luckily I'm not the only one who has trouble realizing it. Luckily you can live like that for 9 months
And I'm just looking forward to the ultrasound on June 6th. I'd love to check in every day to see how the little one is doing, how big he/she is already etc.
I don't know what else to write here. If you want to know anything, just ask
Greetings, Véronique (or just veertje like everyone calls me, including my parents)
