Blubber belly

I gave birth to a beautiful daughter 2 weeks ago. I already had quite a bit of gas during pregnancy, but now it's really super soft and mushy.

I was wondering if and when this will go away. Can I do anything about it myself? Abdominal exercises or a diet?

Bellybandit, also known as a belly band, apparently works really well according to the hospital. And of course, do some sit-ups... Wear the Bellybandit for about 8 weeks.

It's relatable. Especially with my second, I had a huge baby bump. But in the end, it turned out pretty flat. It just takes a lot of time, I mean months. Exercise definitely helps. I started working out again after about 5 weeks, and then the pounds just melted off, and my belly gradually became firmer again. But it will never be quite like it was before your pregnancy.

After giving birth, I kept a round belly. If I now (the little one is 17 months old) wear a tight shirt, it looks like I'm still pregnant! But well, I could also follow a diet. But what I wanted to say with this, it doesn't go away on its own.

Hi, I have stretch marks that aren't going away, definitely have a 'bloated belly' too
    lol

I'm pregnant for the first time.
I already had a little "pregnancy belly" before I was pregnant
(I had overweight as a child and afterwards I became very slim)
So I can imagine that it doesn't completely go away for everyone, it really didn't for me!! Not even after months of intensive ab exercises..

On the other hand, I might worry less.. I was already considered overweight..
But for people with a flat belly, I can imagine it's frustrating..

I have 3 friends who all
3 got back a tight, flat belly!! One even after 3 months! So it really depends on your body type I think.. and how you were before your pregnancy..
    Good luck!!

By the way, go for that stretch mark cream too!! It'll do something right??

    Hey Nienke,
I’m in the same boat – I gave birth 2 weeks ago too, and my belly has gotten even worse and more squishy than before. My abs have completely disappeared. I’m now trying to use an ab roller or whatever that thing is called to get my muscles back a bit, but it’s not easy. I feel everything cracking in my lower back, and I can only really feel the bottom two muscles working in my belly. I hope it gets better in the future. My husband keeps pushing me to start exercising again – he means well, but I just get annoyed because I’m happy if I can find some time for myself in between, just focusing on the little one and the household.
Where can you get that Bellybandit / abdominal binder? I’ve been looking for it for a while too.
    Greetings, Liena

For me, it went away mostly on its own (9 months after the birth of my first), but I fear it will never be as tight as it used to be. Doing a lot of abdominal exercises helps, but only when you get the green light at your postpartum check-up with the midwife!

After 2 pregnancies, it just went back to completely flat like before on its own... I didn't have to do anything for it;-) I also don't have any stretch marks... Hope it stays that way this pregnancy too.. and if not, I'll just start exercising:-)

    Hi!
In both my pregnancies, it just went back to normal on its own—I didn’t have to do anything special. I’ve heard that when you’re breastfeeding, you can lose weight pretty quickly, and that was definitely the case for me. I lost 7 kg within a month after giving birth.
    Greetings!

Pretty tight belly before pregnancy, but a huge baby during pregnancy definitely left its mark. My whole belly is full of stretch marks (even though I applied cream daily), and I still have a wobbly tummy even though I'm already well below my pre-pregnancy weight. Breastfeeding works wonders! My abdominal muscles really resisted quite a bit when stretching out, so much so that I ended up at the hospital. But hey, I got a beautiful daughter out of it! Unfortunately, the answer is train, train, train. Nothing else will help if it doesn't go away on its own, but give it time first for your body to heal on its own. After all, it took 9 months for your belly to stretch out in the first place! Good luck!

Sounds really unpleasant to me. I don't have a "mummy tummy" or sagging belly fat either. No cellulite either, luckily. After my two daughters, I luckily kept a good figure. I've never been overweight naturally anyway. I don't have a tendency to gain weight quickly no matter how much I eat. I exclusively breastfed both children, for example. It seems that your uterus shrinks back more easily then and you return to your pre-pregnancy weight faster. But I never had to worry about my weight. I'm now pregnant with the third one and I'm curious whether I'll keep my figure again after giving birth. Unfortunately, I don't have any tips.

Here’s another wobbly belly, not as bad anymore but it’s still quite soft. It’s only been 7 weeks for me, and he’s already filled out quite a bit in that time, so I think it’ll be fine.
